A Question about Spelunky

As you've told me, Spelunky was made with Game Maker. So this means games made in the Game Maker Engine can be put on XBLA? Or did they have to use different code, like C++. They used the same sprites, textures, music, sounds but different code?

A GAME DEVELOPMENT POLYMATH

Are there any famous game development polymaths? I've seen so many different roles/occupations in developing games. A person could spend thier life learning new things about Game development. Which sounds awesome to me. Someday game development will be in high schools. Hopefully when I'm 40 or 50 (s...

Re: What Makes a GOOD Platformer?

Thanks for clearing that up, XianForce. I never really touched Game Maker but I know tons of people use it. So I thought he was telling me GML is the easy way out. Does the Game Maker community SUPPORT what I would call cloning or jacking the game? You would call it taking "an example platforme...

Re: What Makes a GOOD Platformer?

Good thing you didn't say DarkBASIC. Is GML a really easy language to learn or is GML just really popular? I ask this because you've seen so many game maker platformers.

Master Touch Typing = Better Programming Experience?

Does mastering touch typing effect or improve your programming experience?
Do you know any programmers who touch type?
Do you touch type?
Let me know. I failed touch typing class in 1st-3rd grade. But I found an app that could teach me for free.

Re: What Makes a GOOD Platformer?

Alright then, btw, I'm going to use a game specific language instead of a multipurpose language. Hopefully you guys will look past that when it's finished.

What Makes a GOOD Platformer?

Give me some of your ideas/opinions please. After I learn/study for a few years, I want my first big project to be a platform game.

Re: THANK YOU Falco Girgis and some Questions!

Thanks for the tips! I have 2 new questions. 1st question: When game development books like the one I presented (DarkBASIC Programming for the Absolute Beginner) say in the title, "for the Absolute Beginner", do they mean "for the Absolute Beginner who understands trig level math, and...
