Re: Chrono Trigger to Chrono Cross: The Inventive Carpenter
Well fuck... now I want to go back and replay Chrono Cross... The game has definitely had an influence on me as a developer of ES. While I still don't hold it in quite the esteem I hold Chrono Trigger, it was still an amazing game in its own rights (and would be even better in my mind if it wasn't f...

Re: Help! Finding the intersection of a vector and a line.
There is definitely no way from vector manipulation, because the equation of a line encodes more information than a simple vector does. A line gives you a slope and a y intercept. A vector gives you just a slope. The best you can do is consider a vector a line with a y intercept of 0, and solve for ...

Re: [SOLVED]PVR Rendering Code not producing Output on Dream
I've burned like 3k CD-Rs but it's been all worth It. Now it's time to get onto some serious DC development! 8-) Fuuuuuck, dude. Let me give you some serious advice... As someone who developed on the DC hardware with the coder's cable for years... If you are serious about this, you REALLY, REALLY, ...

Yes, the store queues operate on 32-byte data sets, and they do have to be aligned.

Re: PVR Rendering Code not producing Output on Dreamcast
First of all obviously because I'm not used to having to deal with problems like crippled memory alignment caused by the Hardware when having only coded for the PC before with all those cuddly "standards" friendly people have set up for my convenience. Believe it or not, the x86 architect...

Re: PVR Rendering Code not producing Output on Dreamcast
Hey buddy. Sorry, I haven't had time to sit down and work through this, been super busy staying up all night with ES, got a lot of shit going on at work, and I'm sitting in class right now. Based on your symptoms of working in an emulator but not a hardware, you can almost count on it being some sor...

Re: Structs? Unions? Classes?
I tend to use structs for small, simple, value-only aggregate data types. For things like a simple vector or matrix, you might as well just keep it public as a struct instead of wasting time writing accessors just for the sake of being a good little OO-whore. This also shows the OO-whores that you c...

Re: Programmer's Education Index
I don't mean to boast but I kind of got a free ride to the college I want to go to so resources weren't an issue My father served in Iraq, and I also got a full-ride from the VA (for my undergrad, my employer is paying for grad school)... But my argument still stands. That free VA money is better s...

Re: Programmer's Education Index
Honestly, though... What the fuck is the point of a "double major"? You aren't working two jobs at once. You're paying for more school, taking more classes, prolonging your graduation, and you aren't exercising the other major. I guarantee you it will not result in a pay increase, and I gu...
