This is true.dandymcgee wrote:Well.. the ONLY reason I would still choose SDL over SFML is the fact that SDL is a C library whereas SFML is C++. It definitely sounds sexy. If I were just starting, I would probably choose this over SDL, but back in my day that was all we had...
I will definitely recommend this to newbies over SDL, though.

New Tomb Raider
Is absolutely fucking amazing. It's like Uncharted with a huge exploration factor, RPG elements, and more responsive gameplay. It also has this really eerie, almost Residet Evil 4-esque atmosphere that I absolutely love. I haven't been this goddamn excited to play a video game in awhile, and I have ...

So I found http://vgcollect.com, which appears to be fucking awesome... Only now I'm probably going to have to dedicate a full weekend to cataloging my games... More first world problems...

Saw some dude at the Flea Market selling a bunch of rare ass Sega Master System and Dreamast games, and I couldn't remember which ones I did and didn't own... Unacceptable!

Video Game Collection App/Database?
I have too many goddamn games. When I'm out game shopping, I will see something cool or rare, but I won't remember if I actually own it or not. Does anybody know of a website or iOS app or anything that you can use as a database for you games? I want to enter this shit once, then be able to search t...

Re: Convolution filter with x86 and SSE2 assembly
Very sexy! By the way, dude, have you looked into auto-detecting the SSE version of a CPU? I haven't actually done any SSE programming, but I do a good deal of reading. I believe there should be some SSE version register that you can poll to determine what the CPU supports. Once you know that, you c...

Re: Convolution filter with x86 and SSE2 assembly
Damn, that's really fucking cool. Finding or seeing somebody find a great use for hardware accelerating an algorithm through SIMD instructions always gives me a boner.
I would recommend being more const-correct with your C-code, though. Your static LUT especially should be made const.

Re: Falco's Biweekly Game Purchases
About a year ago, I quit posting to this thread. I fell into a depression of sorts, had plenty of bills to pay, and wasn't particularly financially stable. It was also much easier to blow that kind of money on video games when I lived with my girlfriend who also made an engineering salary. Anyway, I...

Re: c++ "The evil you most avoid"
How do I create objects? And what happens when they are no longer needed? Is it my job to figure out which ones are unused and deallocate them? Bad. Calling having to manually manage your own memory "bad" without giving any further justification is pretty goddamn audacious. What does that...
