Apart from making me want to carry on playing, they all seemed to guide me via use of visual clues(lighting, placement) or sound effects as to what I was supposed to be doing. Or these elements were used to inform the player something has happe...

Here is my latest attempt. Added some new power-ups and features. I also added the ability to die! [youtube]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1ArkiT08Yew&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&featur...

Re: 2D Parralax Scrolling
Yes. That is entirely possible. I could also have clouds rendered with an alpha value that will be rendered over the player to give the impression that you are flying through them. Each star is basically a sprite. I have at the moment 4 layers of them scrolling at diffferent speeds to give the illus...

Thanks for the kind words. Still so much to do.

Re: 2D Parralax Scrolling
Slowly, but surely! Unfortunately the combination of CamStudio, a couple thousand sprites being updated and then a Youtube conversion completely butt fucked any quality out of the video. [youtube]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://ww...

What I don't get is who the hell is that advert aimed at?
...as for the Linux store comment. As soon as I saw the link I started looking at the new features in the next Ubuntu LTS release.

Re: Real Games
Throughout secondary school basketball was my drug and I was the captain of the team. However when I got a "real" job I stopped playing. I am seriously sucky at it now. I used to train Muay Thai for about two years religously, but that sport is too addictive and not good for someone with s...

Re: Producing Artwork - Massive Time Drain?
I am making a 2d side scrolling space shooter. So have no use for human-like characters at the moment. If I ever finish this project I am going to make a platformer, but I would definitely get my gf to do the art for that as she can do awesome animation!

Computer failures - Post your woes!
I just blew up my 3rd laptop charger. 0_o Having to use my old Ubuntu box. A P4 with only 512MB of RAM......ugh! Short of stripping my HDD out of my laptop I have no access to all the code I wrote in the last couple of months and since I haven't used this machine in ages it has a billion updates to ...

Re: Producing Artwork - Massive Time Drain?
Thanks dude, I figured as much. Just getting very frustrated at the slowness of it all. 3d graphics are a little beyond me at this point. I DLed Blender a couple of months back to just have a look. I was completely baffled by the interface. I also tinkered with attempting to create simple polygons u...
