Re: ZombieBlocks Alpha
Sorry, should have been more clear. I did this math based on the first video at the top. Trying to determine where the traffic came from (This was a ~1 week ago). Thats the video I'm referring to when I say I have 1/3 the views on the video as on this thread. And subsequently I can't tell those view...

Re: ZombieBlocks Alpha
You could always just add the YT view count to the view count of this topic and assume we all just watched the video and ignored the text. :P Hehe, yea, I actually went through some of that math to try to figure out where stuff was coming from. But this post has 3x as many views as the videos. XNA'...

Re: ZombieBlocks Alpha
Thanks, the zombie models are actually not something I plan on using in the final version, just placeholders for now. Didn't get any feedback from the folks on the XNA side. Thinking about pushing the PC version out for test earlier than planned to try to get more feedback in. Trying to get as much ...

Re: My first game: A Zombie RPG
I think the issue is more with the floor. It's fairly busy and initially looked like a wall to me for some reason. And the reapeating pattern is a bit too obvious IMO. The lava transition is a bit too stark/sharp edged. It needs a drop shadow or something similar. Agreed on the columns, the white ou...

ZombieBlocks Alpha
Hey Folks, Its been a while since I've posted any new content on here. My current project is far enough along that I figure its time to change that. Basically its a boxel/Minecraft style game but set in more of a traditional zombie survival setting. So no random terrain per se, but there are random ...

Re: College.
I agree with what has been said above about CS degrees. They don't guarantee success, but they open many of the doors you need for it. It is a huge waste of time/money as 50% of it is utter BS, but those are dues paid by people who know what they want (us) for the slackers who think college is about...

Re: Double Fine Adventure
This will be interesting. Removing funding from influence on the game development process seems like a good idea on face value but I'm not so sure. It seems like its a move away from the publisher model and more towards the indie model, but I don't think thats entirely accurate. It definitely is sim...

Re: My first game: A Zombie RPG
Congrats on the sales, pretty good for the first outing. Regarding the gamescore tracking app, can you port it to WP and release it free? It seems it would be better as a driver to your undead game/ads than a sales force itself. Nice doc btw, especially impressed with the tracking of dev estimates/a...

Re: resume review
I might come off a bit harsh, but just trying to give real advice... Make sure you tailor your resume to the position/employer, no one size fits all here. Obviously they will be similar but you may need to reorder skills to bring the most relevant to the forefront. It also shows you are looking at t...

Re: Worst part of game development?
I'll just answer what the worst part is today. Next week it could be something different. In the middle of development right now, so I'd say the worst part is the nagging feeling that the way you implemented some major feature isn't quite right, and you're not going to figure out why it isn't or how...

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I had no interest in playing this game until I played it last weekend. Its not great, but its servicable, and its an MMO and its Star Wars. Its very much like vanilla WoW when it came out which is good enough for me. I still am not a huge fan of the art style but it does look better in game than on ...

Doing XNA here as well and I do have a dev membership along with an HD7 + Focus for WP7 testing.

Re: Windows 8 Just (significantly annoyed apples business mo
Dual booting Win8 on my laptop now. If you haven't watched the videos in depth (I hadn't) the start menu is gone. The big tile page is the new start menu. Its not a replacement for the desktop on touch devices (Like I figured it was). I still haven't been able to get over this change. I liked the st...

Re: Windows 8 Just (significantly annoyed apples business mo
Like I stated before, I'd like more stock support for popular file types like PDF, IMG, different audio and video codecs, shit like that. It's time to get with the times here, Windows... pretty much every other operating system now has this kind of support stock Just going to nit pick on this point...
