Procedurally/Randomly Generated Elements competition
<plug> If anybody is interested, at the Moosader Board we're going to be having a new competition in July 13 - August 29. The theme is Procedurally -or- Randomly Generated Elements. I know a lot of people are interested in Procedural Generation, so I thought I'd announce it here. </plug>

Re: 2D Graphic Artist Wanted
Also as to my experience with Torque. I am just going to create a basic side scrolling platform game first. Then add features one by one. They will enhance the gameplay bit by bit.. This is a great way to approach a project. Kudos for not telling us all about it being an amazing MMORPGFPSRTS experi...

Re: 2D Graphic Artist Wanted
39x54 is such a wonky size. I need to write a guide on "how to spec out the art you need"... Handy Questions: Style? Pixel art? Hand drawn? Do you have concept art for what you want, or are you only able to provide rough text approximation of the art? ^ This is relevant, because if you can...

Re: 8-bit Platformer Pixel Artist Needed
dude please post all these on the off-topic section :) Shouldn't "Art needed" postings go in the Art forum? We are looking for approximately 15 enemy spritesheets, 1 additional mini boss, 3-4 bosses, 2x4 background layers for each of our 4 levels, and one tileset for the final level. If y...

Re: Java vs. C++, UI-heavy programs
EDIT: Forgot my personal recommendation part! I don't use either method. I'm currently writting an externally renderable graphic based UI library in C++. This means that I'll be rendering through DirectX/OpenGL, the menus windows, etc. but have the power of something like Qt. If I had to pick one t...

Re: Java vs. C++, UI-heavy programs
Alright, good advice. I'll reconsider on doing Java stuff. As for an HTML5-built map editor, not sure about that, either. ;P I've seen some UI libraries out there, but packaging something made with HTML5/JS seems a little odd to me? Also when JS crashes everything just refuses to do anything, and th...

Re: Java vs. C++, UI-heavy programs
I would consider Java for UI tools and related tasks where performance is not critical but development time and functionality are. As I am already very familiar with C++ though, and prefer Qt's default UI styles and overall stability I would probably start with Qt over Java. I would also probably c...

Java vs. C++, UI-heavy programs
So I know that a lot of people here love using qt for making applications, such as map editors and such, but I'm wondering if there's anyone "for" using Java and Swing to make something like a map editor. I'm going to have to check the licenses of both, I'm not really sure what kind of res...

Re: Bootleg Art
I have a friend who said he's gonna make a Megaman-like game for his Open Pandora, so here is a ripoff Megaman sprite. I call him Speedoman: http://openart.moosader.info/assets/images/Speedoman_Moosader.png http://www.moosader.com/content/_dump/spritework/speedomanrun.gif aww yeah, mother fucker. ht...

Re: Worst part of game development?
I've yet to get an actual game DONE before... I've always started and got distracted, ran into a bug, restarted 500 times, and I just never get anywhere. I think my personal worst part is feeling like I can do something better, and end up redoing everything. Write Pickin Sticks and then expand from...

Re: Worst part of game development?
Worst part? Finding other people with an ounce of dedication... Finding people who will stick with the project longer than a week... Finding people who can write code and commit it into the repository without you having to watch them do it... Finding people who are willing to dedicate themselves to...

Re: Finished my K.C. Noire game!
I tried it - but it seems I'm stuck or did something completely wrong. I talked to Whited once and then after I finished he ran off (The game was over) And the second time I played it I simply couldn't do stuff after talking do Whited (Like no options for any person). Please fix it (or tell me the ...

Finished my K.C. Noire game!
I finished my "L.A. Noire Text Adventure Esque" game for the Moosader board competitions, thought I'd post a blurb here. It's basically a text adventure- you're free to walk around different rooms and drive your car to different locations (once you learn about them). There are items laying...
