Re: What is the point of programming?

I'd recommend you stick with it, C++ is a complicated language and it'll take a long time to learn but it'll be worth it. This forum is full of people who are willing to help you with any problems you may have. The way I see it you have already put a couple of months towards learning why throw away ...

Re: Simple, Brilliant 2d Game

That was great I really like how the image is revealed as you explore this seemingly random world of pixels. The music was great as well. A great original indie game.

Re: Post every time you beat a game.

Beat it this morning about 4:30AM, while the baby was napping! :P Yes, you've probably heard me rant about COD and my absolutely hatred for Activision, but I got MW2 as a gift for Christmas. I have to admit, its pretty damned impressive. At it's core, the game is pretty simple - follow this person ...

Re: First Console?

My first console was a gameboy pocket purchased at an airport before my parents and I went on holiday to Greece when I was 8. That holiday I aquired an addiction for Tetris and Donkey Kong Land 3. My first home console was a Playstation whch I was given the following christmas along with spyro and c...

Re: Online vs retail prices ( US )

As far as I am aware the gba (and its predecessors and the ds) is completely region free. I see no reason why the dslite would have region locking on its gba port when its never been region locked elsewhere. I think the only region locking is on DSi specific games wich have yet to be revealed.

Re: Post every time you beat a game.

I beat MGS2 the other night, I forgot just how awesome the game is. I don't care that you play as Raiden, the game is still great; the design, the other little details like missing with a bullet and catching the attention of a guard, the story, the controls and everything else is perfect. Now then b...

Re: Christmas Games

Merry Gear Solid is really fun to play. http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/total-klik//merrygear.html Thanks I'll check it out once I've finished the assignment I'm working on. Shenmue for the Sega Dreamcast took place around Christmas time. You could even find a guy dressed as Santa walking around....

Christmas Games

Are there any games that you have, have heard of or have played that feature Christmas themes e.g. Christmas Nights or Blue Stinger. I'd be interested to see how many games feature it in some shape or form. Do you play 'Christmassy' (I was looking for a good adjective and this fit the job just about...

Re: 'Inapproriate Content'

elysianshadows.com is blocked in my school for 'Inapproriate Content'. but TCR isn't wonder who I need to talk to about unblocking it. I can relate, last year I did the last year of my media studies A-level and I needed to use the bbfc website which was, you guessed it, blocked. The irony; a site a...

Re: C++ to C book

I'm currently learning from the absolute beginners guide to c which is a good book and is very detailed and well written. I'm not sure whether it would be the best book for you given that it sounds like you already understand how to program and you may find it doesn't go into enough detail on the co...

Re: I miss the arcades

Same here, definitely missed out on a lot as I was too young and now I can't get that time back. I do plan on building a full MAME Arcade cabinet for my game room, once I get a game room.... Yeah I know what you mean I feel like I've missed one of the best times in gaming. I suppose we have that ad...

Re: I miss the arcades

Yeah I do miss them, I used to live in London where there were quite a few and I remember going to them when I was younger. I remember going to an arcade with my friends around the same time that tekken tag tournament was comng out and having a lot of fun playing versus. There is a small arcade abou...
