Re: Difference between MUD and MMORPG
In MUDs, you pretty much send everything you want the client to see on their screen to the client, stuff like room descriptions, notifications, etc. In a graphical networked game, you send the client data like player positions which the client keeps track of to draw models/sprites.

Re: $500 PC Build Needed!
The monitor isn't a requirement, but I kinda need a OS and a case. I figured :) . I recommend you pick out a case that you like since that is what your gonna be looking at, and OS is up to you as well. If you don't wanna pay $183 for Windows 7 you can get Windows XP SP3 for around $90. If it's too ...

Re: $500 PC Build Needed!
First off, I'd recommend building it. You get to choose every part you want and get a lot more for your money. You don't need 8gb of RAM. 4gb is good, but 2gb is ok also. A 9100gt is going to be barely better than an integrated. You can get a lot for $500, but if you want a monitor with it probably ...

C++ would be the best language for the job, but it is highly unlikely you will be able...

Did you add the folder with SDL.h to your compiler's include directory, and add the folder with SDL.lib to the library directory?

That looks really cool, but I'm going to miss tactile feedback. It seems everything is switching to touch surfaces or... paper.

Re: Computer failures - Post your woes!
A couple of months ago my seagate hard drive failed on me, and I lost nearly all my projects except for the few things I had on a USB stick. I buy a new WD hard drive and send in the seagate one to be replaced. I decide to use the seagate one as a back up drive, hoping to prevent this from happening...
