Re: What influenced you to become a geek/nerd?
I had 3 brothers growing up, had most of the systems so I played Atari, NES, SNES a ton but i would say what really got me into gaming was pc gaming, which is weird because now im pretty much all console. But it was Dune that started it, then Age of empires, Unreal Tournament, Red Alert, Quake1&...

Re: Beer Pong 3D (XNA)
Update Video 4: menu transitions and story mode Lately I've been working a lot on menu transitions. I like the metro style theme and think it will be necessary once I integrate kinect controls (I'm assuming that they will require all menu navigation to be possible through kinect when they allow indi...

Re: resume review
Woo congrats on the upcoming graduation. I agree with Daniel L. Bechard on his comments about shortening up some of the content. its a lot of text for the eye and doesn't split up very well. Maybe take the top 3 or 4 experiences and sum them up a bit more. or could also split the section into 2 sect...

Re: My first game: A Zombie RPG
I don't know whats considered good, but that seems like a good trial > sale conversion rate sales aren't posted but there is a thread that a ton of people put their sales on. I would say the average is about 5-10%, but a TON of games have little to no content in them so its not too surprising. Comp...

Re: Beer Pong 3D (XNA)
@EdBoon - What software are you using to create your 3D models? I've had a little experience in both 3Ds Max and Blender, but I was just curious. Hope the progress is going well! Looking forward to seeing some new sexy screens. hahaha, please do not give me credit for any art ever. All of this was ...

Re: Beer Pong 3D (XNA)
Look. Justin Bieber! D: That's almost an insult to his art. for real Very nice art style. A few notes: The bald guy's neck looks just a little bit wide than it ought to be. It's wider than his head at the bottom. Maybe the lack of shading is just playing tricks on my eyes, who knows. The blon...

Re: Beer Pong 3D (XNA)
Yeah those AAA game use lots of special sauce! I didn't start picking up on it till I started doing game development myself. Next time your playing Halo, notice that as you get closer to objects in the game that a more detailed texture is applied to object, but as you get further away a lesser deta...

Re: Worst part of game development?
Hi all, thought I would raise this topic as I'm currently in the worst part IMO - final polish and debugging. Every week I think my game is practically done, I submit it for testing, and get another dozen issues and tweaks and tinsel to add to the damn thing. I think the QA tester is too good at hi...

Re: Beer Pong 3D (XNA)
@EdBoon - That's a great question about the rendered/collide meshes. In my experience with 3D game design and programming, I have found that the majority of collision meshes used have significantly less poly counts than the rendered mesh. Also, I've found that in order to reduce poly counts that ar...
