YES! I finally got a Dreamcast light gun!

Post by Falco Girgis »

I walked to Rhino today, and I hadn't been there in forever. I knew something was different from the minute I walked in. Something about the air.

Sure enough, in the Dreamcast section they had a brand new Sega keyboard (I'll come back for it), and a LIGHTGUN! I bought it and thus become one step closer to completing my peripheral collection. The few things I have left are VGA-box/adapter, Dreameye, Seaman mic, and the Karaoke set.

There are actually tons of game that use the light gun, as well as a freakin' homebrew driver for it. . .

I have thought of ways to encorporate every peripheral into Null (and plan to go through with it). It takes nobody's imagination to see how the lightgun will fit right in! 8-)

Nice catch Gyro.

But... in Null... what about the fact that 80% of the game audience don't own such peripherals.

Yes.
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

They can just deal with it.

Shame on any developer who takes away an innovative idea because he doesn't think it's worth his time since others have the peripheral.

It's still fully playable and fun for those who don't, but it's more fun for those who do. I take pride in not being the type of person who says "I'm not making it support light gun, because most people don't have it."

Welcome to the world of console addons. That's why they fail -- developers fear that people won't be able to enjoy their game and therefore don't use the addon. Such as the Xbox 360 is doing to its HARD DRIVE THE IDIOTS. MMkay?

I'm just saying... it's gotta work with or without it. So using it as main game play is kinda impossible.

Well. What else is there? (besides minigames) Your first post sounded like all periphnilieasdareas would be part of Null... like not little minigames.

They will be...

JSL, you're the type of person who would let ROB the robot for NES, Super Scope for SNES, 4-player multitap for Genesis, Sega32X, SegaCD, SegaSaturn additional RAM, +4MB Expansion pack for N64, the whole Dreamcast, and the Hard drive for PS2 and Xbox 360 die because of a lack of interest for innovation because you think "nobody will appreciate it."

Hell, I'd do it just to say I did it. And I'd like it.

EDIT -- Okay, far enough, it doesn't matter, end of discussion. This is starting to turn into a flamewar. Deleting any following posts that have to do with your guys' argument. Take it somewhere else, thanks.

I've seen DC fishing rods for $13 at EB.
This is a joke about unfunny jokes. And bad use of irony.

Got mine for $5. They are really worth it. Not only for homebrew, but there are like 4+ games that use it.

I've noticed that Dreamcast actually did make fairly good use of its peripherals, unlike most other consoles.
