So what does everyone think about it closing?
I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of both, but so far the cons are "OMG THEY'RE GOING TO BE [in jail] IN AMERICA! THE WORLD'S GOING TO EXPLODE" and "So they can have a just trial".
Any deeper reasons than that?

Re: Guantanamo Bay
There are definitely two sides to this.
The pro(s) are
-the people who haven't done anything, are going to get freed, which is complete justice.
The cons are
- some are criminals I guess, which isn't great, although I hear they're trying to send back the real criminals back to their home countries to be tried
- some of the innocent people will be very angry, and could perhaps turn them into criminals(although I think they would probably put in a claim to get compensation instead, and perhaps make a career out of it)?

Re: Guantanamo Bay
I, personally, thought it was a poor move to make.
Granted there are a lot of safe people that may be released, there are a lot of dangerous criminals there as well.
I don't know much about it though, so I guess I can't talk.

Re: Guantanamo Bay
Well, its not closed forever is it? Its just until they reevaluate everything and come up with a better system for monitoring what goes on there, right? If so, then good, because I don't think it needs to go away forever.
Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!MarauderIIC wrote:You know those people that are like "CHECK IT OUT I just made Linux run on this piece of celery [or other random object]!!"? Yeah, that's Falco, but with ES.

Re: Guantanamo Bay
Guantanamo Bay was pretty much built as an excuse to violate UN agreements for torture and unfair treatment of war prisoners. I can't say that I love the fact that those people will be held in the US or released, but my hate of hypocrisy far outweighs my sense of selfish paranoia.
The US is doing the right thing.
