Switching major from comp science to pre med.
Yeah, comp science is a good hobby but it really sucks especially the type of people i have to go to class with.... So Im going to go to pre med then go to med school and become a doctor.
I hate my classmates they're all guys. and in premed almost every single person is a girl (want to be nurses) yeah im going to be a doctor though.

If you become a doctor...God help your patients.
But seriously if you do become a doctor, you won't have time for computers, 0s and 1s, all that good stuff.
BTW I'm drunk, this is still relevant

Don't go into something for the money, go into something because you love doing it.
Being a doctor is a shitton of work and shitton of stress. I'd much rather deal with computers and computer people (who, I actually like more than most types of people)

Yeah doctors are gay... stick with Computer Science, you'll enjoy it more...
Just because it's a sausage festival doesn't mean that you have to switch majors...

If gender is what bothers you, there are a lot more women in the engineering fields than in CS.

There are more women in CS than CPE here (and most places that I've heard of).LusikkaMage wrote:If gender is what bothers you, there are a lot more women in the engineering fields than in CS.
Women are going to be in either mechanical or chemical engineering. Sometimes electrical, but I have yet to meet a CPE girl.

The only CS ladies I see tend to be quite a bit older.
I see a lot of math, physics ladies, and then random engineering, but not electrical engineering.

During my 4 years of college, there were a total of 2 females in the Sound Engineering department. It was rough seeing as how I can't stand 90% of the male population.. particularly in Jersey..

Re: Switching major from comp science to pre med.
In my college computing class there are 2 females, ones a complete slacker who is re-doing the 1st year alongside the 2nd year with us (don't ask me how she negotiated that, she didn't do any of the coursework till the day it was due for crying out loud, she made a bullshit excuse about leaving it at home...if I was the teacher, I would have given her the boot!) and then there's her friend... she works a lot harder and has a lot more knowledge of the subject.
Oh and my friend from the year below does computing, but she's the only one in her year (and she moans non-stop about it, but she's cool)
Not trying to go off topic, but I've just realised a lot of people in my computing class have big problems with being able to program...
I guess it's because most of them don't really do it in their spare time.

I think I can program pretty well, it's my compiler that needs convincing!

And now a joke to lighten to mood :D
I wander what programming language anakin skywalker used to program C3-PO's AI back on tatooine? my guess is Jawa :P

I'll never understand going to college for something you don't have a desire to do in your spare time. Everyone in the Sound Engineering department was there because they just wanted to do it, and all of them were doing things way beyond the course work. Once the class just becomes work, your major is irrelevant, and you just better hope you can at least make a lot of money at it, because you certain won't enjoy dedicating your life to it. *shrugs*programmerinprogress wrote:Not trying to go off topic, but I've just realised a lot of people in my computing class have big problems with being able to program...

Re: Switching major from comp science to pre med.
Exactly... People don't think as a job being fun, but it can be as fun as you want it to be! Same goes with college, if your not having fun or enjoying what your doing in college, then it's time to switch majors to something else because what your doing in college is training you for what your going to do for potentially the rest of your working career.aamesxdavid wrote:I'll never understand going to college for something you don't have a desire to do in your spare time. Re: Switching major from comp science to pre med.
well fortunately, when I use the term college, i'm talking 'UK college', it's not too bad if you do a few subjects you don't like (you have to take a at least 3, even if you only have an interest in one), university is where you decide which subject you're doing for the rest of your career.
But still, I think you should at least try in the other subjects, because it increases your odds of getting onto a uni course you actually want to do an enjoy.

You know... you can talk to girls outside of class.... Honestly I wouldn't make a career choice based on whether or not there are women in your class. That's thinking with the wrong head if you catch my drift.

I prefer smart girls so I like meeting girls in college rather than at the mall.mllarson wrote:You know... you can talk to girls outside of class.... Never get into anything for the money! It's gonna lead to two possible outcomes. 1) you give up. 2)Your gonna be bad at it.
