I love you, but I'm not sure how thorough or objective that review was.

Re: Final Fantasy VII
I think I summed it up pretty well. If you want to play win, play FFVII.
Re: Final Fantasy VII
While it was a good game i still old 4, 5 and 6 in higher regard. A few songs from the sound track have been burned into my being and trigger memories of very specific places and times. It's pretty interesting.

Re: Final Fantasy VII
4 was amazing. I thougt 5 was absolutely horrible due to difficulty level and storyline. 5's take on the battle system was win, though.
Unfortunately 6,8,9 are the only FFs that I have yet to play. XD

6 as I am sure you have heard is brilliant, though I wasn't overly fond of the soundtrack. 9 was kind of like a homage to the past and had a feel similar to FF4 that I really enjoyed. 8 didn't really do anything for me, and I didn't enjoy 10 or its sequel.GyroVorbis wrote:4 was amazing. Re: Final Fantasy VII
ah FF7, it's a great game, I found it too easy and Cloud was a whiny wuss. but all in all, still a solid game.
I always loved, FF 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7. The others were ok, but were not great for me. Never played 11... Cant wait for 13.
FF7 is important in video game history, because it was the game that popularized rpgs (or if you prefer, 'crpg') in the west. It was many peoples' first rpg experience. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best game ever, like many declare, but we are all entitled to our opinions. Maybe I'm just a rebel and don't want to admit that FF7 is great as everyone says... But I do still love it...

Like Zozo's theme? lol Didn't care for that one much. But can't deny liking Shadow's theme6 as I am sure you have heard is brilliant, though I wasn't overly fond of the soundtrack.
Re: Final Fantasy VII
I hooked up the PS for my younger sibling some time back so they can relive the glory of VII also. How mistaken I was. It's a very painful game to play through. The random battles I'm afraid might make the game even unbearable for those short on patience. Yes the graphics still are good, the story was great, but the random battles were just unbelievably too close in between. I even ordered a game shark that way we can play with an enemy away materia installed at all times. Thats how frustrating it was for someone revisiting that game. The materia did make things better, but it wasn't enough to keep her attention to the game. I recommend if you pick up the game to play, you do the same with the materia.

Re: Final Fantasy VII
...really?
The only complaint that I have with FF7 (by today's standards) is that the graphics look like shit. They did not age well at all, in my opinion. FF7 is even shitty looking for Playstation One standards. It was one of the shittiest looking games on the console. Look at games like Chrono Cross, Valkyrie Profile, FF8, and FF9--they look 10x better than FF7 on the same console.
The random battles aren't that high compared to lots of newer games (Dragon Quest series, Blue Dragon, all the titles like that). Gameplay-wise, I feel that the game is no worse than anything currently coming out...

And actually, for leveling addicts like myself, the more battles the merrier.

Re: Final Fantasy VII
I recall getting annoyed at the amount of random battles. I don't really play RPGs to grind (that's what MMOs are for! :D)
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.
Re: Final Fantasy VII
I like it when I'm grinding, but when I finally have an objective to complete, it makes me wanna hack in a repel item... Unless the game already has one, then I just wanna hack my inventory to get a billion of them...MarauderIIC wrote:I recall getting annoyed at the amount of random battles. Re: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII is an amazing game!
For all who didn't know, they released it on the PlayStation Store for $10!
That means if you have a PS3 or PSP you can download it and enjoy the magic that is Final Fantasy VII all over again!
I just bought it because I lost my original disks.
I'm not too far in, but it's great to play it again!

Re: Final Fantasy VII
Maybe this would be a good place to post this, I just learned of it's existence this past March, this is a truly badass remix of the FFVII soundtrack. I mean, really well done, sounds professional as hell. My favorite being "Sons of Chaos" which is a remix of the Shin Ra(shinra?) song... definitely worth a listen to.
