Hello!
Alright lets get this introduction out the way.
Once upon a time...wait sorry wrong style. Yeah hey everyone, I'm a 2nd year university student residing in Australia, Western Australia to be exact. I am doing a double major in Computer Science and Games Technology and I'm also doing a minor in Computational Mathematics and Physics. Yes thats right I am lucky enough to be doing a whole university course in how to make games and so far its going great. Im afraid i must make this post quite brief since I have exams next week and I should probably stop procrastinating and get back to studying *sigh*. Well I'd just like to say thanks to Falco and the whole Elysian Shadows team for making this website and for making the Adventures in Game Development series that has surely stolen a few hours from my life when I should have been studying, but it was worth it. Well I'm off, see you all later.

Welcome to the forums
on your left, there is the Game Development forum, on the right there is the programming discussion forum.
If the "fasten seatbelt" sign goes on, please do so and prepare for a bumpy ride, refreshments can be purchased from the snack cart when we reach 35,000 feet

Re: Official "Hello, World! (I'm new!)" thread
Hi everyone. I'm not very good at introductions. So, I'll end it here.
Judge not a man by his language but by his use of the language.
Re: Official "Hello, World! (I'm new!)" thread
Code: Select all
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main(){
cout << "Hello World" << endl;
}
Code: Select all
public class Main{
public static void main(String[] args){
System.out.println("Hello World");
}
}
Code: Select all
<?php
echo "Hello World";
?>
I am Marty (if you can't tell). Not Martin, just Marty. I am a Computer Science major at Weber State University in Utah. I am in my summer semester of my first year. Taking summer semesters to try to graduate faster. I'll start my sophomore year this fall.
I know some java (took java don't know it 200%.)
I know php(self taught started in november :p)
I know css(I suck at it, well I'm not that bad)
I know html(I hate html, well mostly I hate IE)
I'm learning c++(Its apart of my summer semester classes)
I'm 6'3, blond hair blue eyes. My Myspace says "more to love" rofl.
I game a lot. I have a ps3, xbox 360, game cube, gameboy advance, ps2, Snes/Nes combo system.
My computer is a Intel core 2 duo 1.8 ghz. 4gig ddr 2 ram at 667 mhz I think. 250 gig HDD, 256mb nvidia gforce 8600 graphics card, Windows Vista Business. It's about 2 - 3 years old.
My laptop is an Amd Turion x2 2.1 ghz. 4gig ddr 2 ram. (don't know mhz). 200 gig HDD, 128mb Radeon 3100 graphics card. Windows 7 Ultimate -beta build 7000 I think.
I plan on buying a core2 quad or a phenom 2 x4 soon.
I like to ride bikes, I love to watch youtube videos. I've seen 53,000 youtube videos. Hopping to get to 100k at the end of this year. Created my newest youtube account (one with 53k videos watched) on January 8th 2009.
When I graduate I want to work at a games company called Jagex or EA. Jagex is based in the UK. There is a EA division 30 miles from where I live currently.
My isp is comcast. I love them. I get great service and speed from them.
I don't have a job, just full time student. I plan on getting a job after I get my AAS degree. Currently if I get a job I risk the chance of loosing my federal grant. Flipping burgers doesn't pay for school.
I currently work on a website called http://evilchicken.net
I love coding in php. As said previous I hate html.
I've only created two websites by myself.
http://martyj.comuv.com/v1 is the first
http://martyj.comuv.com is the second
The second is not complete nor do I think I will ever finish :p.
lastly I'm extremely late at introductions. I prefer to come here get to know the community first. Introduce later.
