A game idea
An idea came to me last night as I was deleting a few files, and I thought to myself, it'd be great if I could just plop these babies on a frame and stab them to hell, while each stab would take a certain amount of health (data) away from the file until they died (no more data), in which case the file could then be deleted off of the machine. After contemplating whether or not I should add different weapons, I decided to change the idea to fit the role-playing game scene.
The player will start off on their desktop, as they guide their character through the files on their desktop, killing each of them, and gaining experience in the process. Folders and shortcuts will teleport the player to their respective targets.
I have yet to decide what the files/folders should look like; if you'll play as a classic RPG character, and simply walk around on the actual screen, or emerse the player in an RPG world, where different files will have different sprites, along with grass, flora, and buildings, etc.
The goal:
To kill all of the "monsters."
Difficulty:
Impossible.
Main target:
Sadistic bastards who give this game to their friends, so that they can chuckle as they watch them unknowingly corrupt and delete their files while having the time of their life.
Spoon:
Your opinions, and whether or not it's worth making.

Re: A game idea
You should make it so that you can actually delete files on your computer lmao.
That way you could get like a 6 GB file and trying to kill it and then eventually destroying it and once you destroy it in the game it deletes off your actual computer...

Oh, oh, let's make this a puzzle game where you defrag your Hard Drive.
The game takes place in your hard drive, you need to sort files in the right order in order to optimize your ROM.
Playing Time:
3 to 5 thousand hours(GMT+2 WTF?!)
JK...
your idea sounds awesome

I think it's a good idea though...
You should make the main character use the mouse pointer as it's weapon or maybe make the main character the mouse or something and you use weapons to destroy the files.
Text files could be weak enemies and then things like Programs will be higher up enemies and then like ISO files (only thing I can think of with a high file size) those will be like bosses and stuff like that.
I like the idea of shortcuts teleporting you to the folders that's a cool idea.
Maybe you can fight like viruses or something too and delete them off the computer.

Re: A game idea
It definitely shouldn't be able to just delete any file off your computer.. maybe have a specific folder in the project folder called "Recycle Bin" or some sort of directory, and only allow those files to be killed/deleted. Also have a mode where nothing actually gets deleted for real (play mode).

I'll write a signature once I get some creativity and inspiration...
Re: A game idea
Well if it's a recycle bin type thing... make sure you can turn it off, so that when you show your friend on his computer it deletes everything without him knowing....
would it really be so hard to backup your pc The final boss should be the game executable

Because that wouldn't cause any file read errors or anything.eatcomics wrote: The final boss should be the game executable
