In the original (which I'm assuming you haven't played), you controlled hector with the d-pad, while ROB the robot(or a second player) controlled the pillars with the A and B buttons.JS Lemming wrote:I don't follow. Yeah that makes a whole lotta sense.Pickzell wrote:In the original (which I'm assuming you haven't played)
Unless my memory just utterly fails me, you could control Hector and the pipes on the same controller. I don't personally own an NES so I've done my most recent gyromiting on an emulator without controller 2's keys even being defined and Hector/pipes are controlled with controller 1.
This is why I was confused by Derbon's comment. Although I have heard people bitch about the original's controls, I've never ran into the problem myself. Either way, it doesn't matter. New Gyromite will have simple controls.

fceu. But like I said, it doesn't matter. I'm not trying to say I know anything, just that I haven't run into the problem.

Re: New Gyromite
Good news everyone. The game is finished!
I kid you. Yeah I have been meditating in my cave for 10 months. It got too musty so I left. I live in Georgia now and work a job for one year, a Co-Op. Here is my update...
I don't like C++ anymore. It's black olives on my sandwich. SICK. Python is pepperoni. I'm going to rewrite New Gyromite in pepperoni. There are SFML bindings. It's beautiful. I'll make it less dependent on framerate as well. That was becoming a problem.
Also, due to poor foresight, I will be redrawing the graphics. I'm going for 1080p.
I'll begin this after I build my new computer. I'm not smart at hardware but I'm going to buy some computer parts and mash them together till it works. Should be fun.
