Eidos has taken an interesting approach to game piracy. Batman loses his ability to Glide if you aren't running a legit copy of the game.

Hi!
I’ve got a problem when it’s time to use Batman’s glide in the game. When I hold <Space> , like it’s said to jump from one platform to another, Batman tries to open his wings again and again instead of gliding. So he fels down in a poisoning gas. If somebody could tel me, what should I do there.

The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free.
It’s not a bug in the game’s code, it’s a bug in your moral code.
Whilst we at Gamer Limit don’t condone the act of pirating games, we would certainly recommend waiting until after the game has actually been released before requesting assistance on the official forums.
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.
This reminds of the Chrono Trigger DS release, they did something similar to thwart pirates. The scene in the beginning when you go through that warp hits an infinite loop and you can never escape it. I heard there was 1 or 2 other areas like that further in the game as well. Definitely interesting.

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!

Yeah, I remember my exbf's friend Jeff pirated FF: Crystal Chronicles, and after about a half hour it'd just go to a screen that said something like "Thank you for playing!". Which actually is kind of a weird thing to say.
I think the Batman thing is a clever way to spot pirates, as they'll ask why it's happening and get caught. ;P
