There's an anti anti programming language sentiment going around on these forums. I very much defend programming languages. Java, C#, Perl, Python...
Righton, it's my feeling if a language is legitimately bad, it will die. I'm currently doing an assignment on PL/1, it's an example of a language 'a bit before it's time' it tried to accomplish too much and this resulted in it becomming burdersome, with an absurdly large amount of syntax available and compilers that are just too cumberson. While PL/1 is now all but dead in many ways, it was the first language to use pointers, and a few other things that are now really common today. Pretty much every language you hear about will have some practical use. After all you don't think they use C++ to keep planes in the air...
and thats my languages rant...

I won't be touching the Android. I just recently got back from a subsidised iPhone developers course. So I need to get into programming for that firstly. I'm really looking forward to setting up a game making environment for it as soon as I get some time free, C++ and openGL ES for the most, objective-c just to plug things in (I do love my openGL... I now know some objective-c now but I'm much more comfortable with C++). Iv'e never really enjoyed programming in Java and alot of things have put me off the Android as well as that.

Fortunately I don't have to mention them, as an Android developer can do that for me;

I will say this though, I don't look forward to forking over $99 US for a developers liscence for iPhone.

Yea, that was a "wtf Apple" moment for me. I could understand paying that fee once you've built something that gets published to the app store, but you need to pay just to deploy to your personal iPhone/iPod.
However, if you're confident that you can make something commercially viable then it's worth the cost.

Let's not forget the awesomeness that is cydia, you can sell your app on cydia, without the license I do believe :)... I bet apple will start suing soon though... but if you're not selling it I bet you'd be okay :)

Yea, but there's no market there... There are around 21 million iPhone users, how many of them have jail broken phones? Of those users, how many would actually pay to download an app? Not much of a threat to the app store, and not really worth it for a game developer. However, if you know your app's not going to get approved by apple, then it's always an option.
