Wow, this guy has some serious skills. His tools are incredible too!
Although, I disagree with him on his view of modeled vs procedural. I think a good mix of the two is the way to go. To make it look organic is great, but from the layout, I could tell it was procedurally generated. Is that a pro or con? For me, it cheapens the games experience, and therefore is a con. As for his remarks on Halo 3 being ugly, I think he has a definite bias. If all of Bungie's staff were as skilled as he is, imagine what they could create. Maybe his problem is that he doesn't know how to not sound arrogant when he tries to explain what he can do.
Oh, and he gets major props for making all his shit open source.
Love, and a hell lot of it.

His remarks about Halo 3 may be biased, but I completely agree.
Do you remember when the Xbox 360 first came out? Do you remember when we had Call of Duty 3 on the 360 looking shittier than games like Black on the PS2? The bias on graphics these days are so far in the direction of post-processing that raw poly count really hasn't increased that much from the previous generation.
I have always thought Halo 3 looked pretty shitty.

Re: Love, and a hell lot of it.
I remember that, I also remember Black being an exceptionally good looking PS2 game. Not that the comparison isn't fair, because technically COD3 (on 360) should destroy Black, but it was multi-platform across two generations of consoles. (game was a hardware whore )GyroVorbis wrote:His remarks about Halo 3 may be biased, but I completely agree.

When I first played Halo 3, I remember thinking it looked an awful lot like Halo 2, with better visual effects. (were those not the same models?)
As you were saying, in terms of raw polygons, Halo 3 along with many other titles don't look so great for that reason.

I flipped on the video thinking that I would check it out for a couple minutes; ended up getting sucked in and watching the whole thing. I am very interested in this game and agree with him almost 100% on the outlook of simplicity. Although, he does come across as a bit arrogant at times, I don't think he is doing it intentionally. One thing is for sure though, this man needs about a weeks worth of rest. He looks like he hasn't slept since he began developing Love.

Jesus christ look at those bags, his eyes remind me of a panda.
When he showed his tools he made, my mouth pretty much dropped. UV mapping is a pain in the ass itself, I hate to think about building an automatic UV mapper!
