Darkem (My image shader thinhy)

Post by JS Lemming »

Here it is: http://www.thechaosrift.com/JSLemming/Darkem.zip

What's it for? Well, when I was figiting with the DC the other day (displaying images and such) I noticed that it was 5000032420334 times brighter than the one my computer screen. So I dicide to make a program to darken images so it would look the same on the compoot and TV. I thought this was only going to take a few lines o'code, but lo and behold, it got a little more complicated. Just taking down the pixel values a certain amount wasn't enough. The TV seemed to display too much red. So now that I have it all callibrated, it looks perfect on my TV as it did on the computer screen, BUT, I really hope it's not TV specific! THat would suck if it was only my TV like that. Anyway, the default shade is -45, that is what looks the best (trust me, I know, I tried like 18 different things)

Right when I finished this 550 line baby, I sat in my chair all warm in fuzzy inside.. Like a job well done. Then I realized I could have just drawn a semi transparent polygon at the end of the scene... and it would do the same with less hassle. But I'm not sure about that.

O well, hope this comes in handy to somebody. If it doesn't show good on the TV... tell me....

I'll have to test, but my TV has always made my images too dark... Like I would've needed them brighter. But I'll try this out.

Funny, I haven't been having any problems whatsoever with Null...

WHAT! Yours are too dark??? Well, that just destroys my whole theory... what a waste of time that program was. Are you sure normal images appear darker on your TV? That would mean it simply looks different on every TV and trying to fix the problem would end in vain. I hate things like that!!!

TvSpellsFreak... can you give me any advice on this issue?

It appears different on different TVs.
It's perfect on mine, but that depends on the brightness level of your TV.
Just adjust it until it's fine...

Hey! I know, download the mug, use it to shade a file, watch the koo progress bar, then delete the program. Yeah, the programs a useless piece of corn now, BUT you must see the progress bar... its so progressy. Gyrovobis, remember the useless progress bar on TCR intro. Good times... Gooood times.
