Obviously, but you need to be a careful buyer, and if you're looking for fewer scams, amazon is the way to go. EBay is fucking loaded with them.
Quit procrastinating and make something awesome.

I love EBay, I've never had a problem to be honest. You can't use Paypal on Amazon and that's a MAJOR con imho. Also if you get scammed on Amazon the most you'll ever get is Amazon bucks (or whatever the hell it's called), whereas if you get scammed on EBay the money is returned to your Paypal where it can be spent quite literally anywhere.

Read the description thoroughly before you purchase, don't buy from someone with 2 sales, don't buy from China.. ever (You can limit the search results down to US sellers, unfortunately you can't limit it to Non-China sellers), if you want to buy expensive shit (art, autographed merchandise, a car) go to a real auction. Follow these simple rules and you'll likely never find yourself in the situation you fear.

Only exception: Buying textbooks. Never sell textbooks to Amazon, it's a major ripoff, but they have excellent deals for buying books.
