The NGP will probably utilize the 4 cores like this:
1 Core for hypervisor and game OS only. Closed off to developers.
3 Cores for application usage, open to developers.
So in other words, developers will not have access to the kernel and will have to use system calls... But that is the norm these days.
The CPU will probably have:
Minimum of 1.0 GHz
a 512K L2 shared cache
each core will have 32K data cache and 32K Instruction cache
16 32bit general purpose registers (that is double the x86, there are only 8 in the x86)
32 64bit (double precision) floating point registers
Do you think Sony will set up some kind of indie scene like for the iOS and Android and 360 has right now?
Oh... I can't wait for this to get hacked and opened up... I would LOVE to develop for this piece of beauty.
Any one know how much RAM it will have? And the speed?

Well, I'm not sure about this, but didn't Sony say that it will feature the android market?
Anyway - making homebrew for a Sony product is now a no-go for me since that what happened to GeoHot (the guy who hacked the PS3) because who knows what Sony does next?

Well, if you consider PS3 was their pride and joy in top of the line security and GeoHotz cracked it in like 3 weeks, they would be pretty damn pissed. And about the PS Market thing, that is like the current PSN is. The big name developers can bypass the publisher and directly publish onto the PSN. There also is the Minis, which are essentially the equivalent to the "Xbox Arcade". They lack the indie game market though. That is what I really look forward to. That is if they do it...Milch wrote:Well, I'm not sure about this, but didn't Sony say that it will feature the android market?

You have to realize, the NGP will probably not run Android, even though it has 3G, they will probably focus on security like their past models.
