Re: Any jobs?
Well... what would you want to do?
Your best bet would be to look at different game companies in your area and if they're offering internships...

Re: Any jobs?
It might be worth looking for smaller iPhone app companies, as it'll be easier to get in (short staffed usually), and you'll get to work on a variety of games, instead of just 25% of one. A good portfolia is vital though, make sure that's spot on.

Re: Any jobs?
I would mainly be looking for startup companies that could use EITHER a programmer or an artist, since I am developing my skills in both. As for what I exactly want to do as a job, I would like to model levels and work on the game scripting side.xiphirx wrote:Well... what would you want to do?

thanks for the tip! Do you know any companies in particular?Van-B wrote:It might be worth looking for smaller iPhone app companies, as it'll be easier to get in (short staffed usually), and you'll get to work on a variety of games, instead of just 25% of one. Re: Any jobs?
I forgot to mention that I would preferably like to NOT go to an office to work.
Not only do I have a studio that I'm accustomed to at home, but I also have school to attend.
does that help?

Re: Any jobs?
If you actually live in Tampa, there are a hundred opportunities right outside your door. Take a walk around your area, check out some local companies, and put your resume in at any of them that looks interesting to you. Other than that, do some research online to find some of the less obvious jobs in your area.xiphirx wrote:Well... what would you want to do?

Re: Any jobs?
Hahaha no that does not help. What are you afraid of the outside world? Ok ... It has been my humble experience that trying to find a job that let's you work from home as an entry position is much harder than being willing to work on location. I i don't mean to sound like a dick it's just I'm a fulltime (overtime) student with a fulltime job and it seems like these job requirements of yours are from fairy Lala land. I do wish you luck though if you don't decide to be more flexiblegamenovice wrote:I forgot to mention that I would preferably like to NOT go to an office to work.

Re: Any jobs?
What you're looking for is most likely a team of guys starting up a project on a 0$ budget with no regular pay - likely developing an app of some sort. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that (actually, I encourage it), but it's not going to be a job in any traditional sense. If you work a regular job you will almost invariably have to go in to work.
EDIT: Here's a good article on what a technical artist is/does:
http://www.skillset.org/games/careers/p ... 5287_1.asp
From what I understand, technical artists are actually quite sought after. Basically, someone who has a strong working knowledge of the technical tools used to create in-game art assets and the ability to extend them or provide insight on the technical side, particularly when it comes to working with the programmers, with shaders, lighting, effects, meshes, bump mapping, etc; is quite valuable.gamenovice wrote: I would mainly be looking for startup companies that could use EITHER a programmer or an artist, since I am developing my skills in both. Re: Any jobs?
Lmao. Somebody with no development experience wants to have the luxury of working from home, because he has a cool studio and classes to attend...gamenovice wrote:I forgot to mention that I would preferably like to NOT go to an office to work.
