Arce and I trecked the 5 miles to RadioShack the other day to buy a soldering iron and some LEDs. I payed an outrageous amount for my blue 3.7V LED to replace my old standard orange 3.3V that came with the Dreamcast.
It actually wasn't as easy as I had expected to mod something as simple as the LED. It was worth it in the end. Here's the final product:
As you can clearly see the default, orange LED has been replaced with my new and awesome blue light.
So seeing as I have the most pimped out Dreamcast here, I think I should be addressed as "Master Vorbis," "Captain Gyro," or "GyroVorbis the Almighty." What do you think?
But seriously, what do you think of the mod?
My very first console mod! (pictures included!)

Very Nice.
Whenever I get around to it, I'll replace the (distastefull in my opinion) orange led with either the blue or maybe a bright lime green.
T'would be awsome to pimp out a nes controller by making a see-though case for it.
Props Cap'n Gyro!

I've been reading and I'll definately do the NES/Dreamcast controller mod this weekend. I have everything I need (including the spare NES controller).
Anyway, be sure you get the right type of LED!!111
Arce tried the mod too. His sadly didn't turn out so well. He got a lime green LED, but a different type. His was really white with a green painted coat on the outside. It was really dull and disappointing.
I payed extra. The one I got was a clear glass bulb that generated true blue light.
Dreamcast takes 3.3V. If you go over that (like I did), you won't risk burning it out at all, but it won't be as bright. I used 3.7V and it's plenty bright for me. I've seen people do that mod with 3V LEDs and the thing lit up the whole room. I would've liked to of done that, but you risk burning the bulb and I couldn't find the right size. :?
