I'm not sure if this is considered necroposting because other people are in this thread, so I'm just going for it
Shit, I must have been in 7th grade using game maker and it was ruling my life. I didn't know anything about real programming (beyond the if statements and for loops that GML has), and I think I assumed even pro devs used programs like game maker. I found AiGD chapter 3 (I'm almost positive it was chapter 3) on the related videos of a game maker video and was intrigued by all the low level stuff they were doing and wound up getting into C++ myself. Now I'm going to college for this bullshit.

I think Falco deserves a Turing award just for the amount of people the series has got into programming.
