Elements are always fun. Are you going to make the tower elements changeable after you build them? How about making your tiles have animation, so you could do moving water. To be honest what I'm thinking is that you are too advanced for the type of game your making, and I think you could easily learn some opengl or dx and make a more modern looking game. Using shaders and make the water be "realistic" and have real-time reflections isn't too challenging if you tried, same for things like waving trees.

He's definitely not using Joomla, I know more than enough to tell that.
