I can remember when I started watching AIGD

I was incredibly ill (man flu), lying up in bed, surfing YouTube on my laptop, decided to check out your channel properly(I had encountered it before, but at a glance) and just got hooked.

I didn't get hooked on the videos themselves, I got hooked on the idea, a couple of guys making a substantial game, from scratch, and documenting their progress, and all the other stuff in between, it made for very entertaining viewing.

Also you guys were rarely 'boring' even if the videos weren't as good as they are now, you still had the conversations, the backtalk and the humour that has been consistent throughout the project, things have never been bad, they've only got better.

And i'm looking forward to future episodes :)

I totally agree. I first stumbled upon "Where to Begin Part 1", and everything Falco was saying matched my experiences with game development. I've tried to make a few games with a team of friends, and it never works out. So, seeing you guys come together and produce this level of awesomeness was a blast to watch. I think AiGD was up to Chapter 11 at the time, but I sat and watched the entire series once I found it.

Can't wait for 16!

Yep I'm a long time fan, but I agree with PIP your videos are never boring. Sometimes they are a little loud  but that's all

I was actually just looking for a place to post this, and that gave me the perfect opening.

Marauder replied to my post on the "Hello World" thread about helping with audio. I hadn't thought about it at the time, but I'd like to open that offer up to the videos as well. It can be tricky getting decent levels on everyone talking, blend that with the music, etc. - but it's kind of what I do. I wouldn't have even said they were loud, because my volume is set pretty low for YouTube as it is, but then it's difficult to hear people at times. So anyway, I'd be happy to assist with that as well.

To put it bluntly, the audio sucked ass in many of the videos. There was inconsistency, which lead to having to lower or raise the volume while watching an episode.

I sincerely appreciate the offer (and speak for myself only) but we know the problem, as well as the solution. We've tried to fix it as of the latest videos, but have still had some problems. (during one segment, I recall Gyro had his thumb over the mic of the camera XD). Though I'd say it was much better overall in chapter 15, some of the sound effects were still kinda 'blow me out the ass' loud (namely, the sonic stuff). XD

The two main problems are the shitty camera, and the sub-par editing software. Both of these we plan to fix before chapter 16 (which is why it's taking so long). I'm not quite sure when Gyro's going to get off his ass and announce the plan for obtaining a new camera, but that will most definately help a great amount.

Seriously? Haha, I'm not sure I remember you way back in the day. But thanks for still watching since then. =P

AND NO SPED UP PIECE WITH MUSIC!?! Yeah, chapter 12 was the most dramatically different movie, and had by far the most content. That was the return from a large break, and we pretty much let the camera roll all throughout the night. There were even some things that we ended up showing off in chapter 13. XD

Anyway, how'd you like chapter 12? If I recall correctly, that one was more geared toward the people interested in the development process than the casual watchers who like the music and randomness...?

Also, is that "dang" good or bad? Curious. xD

I coulda sworn you've been around longer than that. XD

I do recall that you were one of the original youtubers to move to these forums (along with eatcomics and some others). When exactly did we post the link...? Herm...

I very much appreciate that. Just keep in mind that Gyro's the one responsible for the videos--good/suck is his fault, mainly. He decides what's worthy of being shown off, when to let the camera roll, and how to put together the movies. Many times we have the entire dev team waiting in a IM window of somekind, all watching then new chapter at once. =P

Which reminds me...I think I'm going to post details about an mIRC chatroom before the next video is uploaded. That way you guys can watch it at the same time as the rest of the dev team, in the same chat if you'd feel so inclined. Hell, you guys are practically family anyway. ;)

I don't remember how I stumbled upon the channel but I remember finding the adventures in dev cock videos. And then seeing the Introduction to the Adventures in Game Development: part 1, I had been thinking of getting into programing and game design I thought that these videos sounded like a good idea. and I agree while the first few videos didn't have the quality that some of the newer ones have I still enjoyed them and never found them boring specially since there was no one else on youtube doing videos like this at the time. But I agree they have gotten better as time has gone on longer more detailed and better laid out. so its been like over a year now since I started following you guys and you were the ones that got me to start programing and get into making games. Then I stumbled upon these forums when I first got on they definitely weren't as active as they are now. But it was still a good place to talk about games, programing and other random shit. This turned out a lot longer then I meant it to but I guess I wrote this to thank the elysian shadows team for motivating me to get started with programing and game design and for entertaining me for the last year or so.

Gotcha. Well, being the audiophile nerd that I am, can't help but point out that any video editing software won't have the proper capabilities to deal with greatly varying audio much less noisy audio. In any case, I wouldn't suggest that I arrange everything and edit the fine details of the audio, but if you find yourself in a situation where something is noisy, varies in amplitude too much, or is otherwise problematic, I'd be more than willing to help. That's all. :)

My YouTube PMs to Falco started in early September, and I joined the forums on Sept 21st - so sometime around then.

Hey, I'm sorry that I hadn't said anything. I kept reading your posts on my iPod touch at school (during Cal C or Differential Equations, usually).

You're right, though. The video quality is something that I have always tried to improve. I recently purchased CS4, and I am going to try my hand at learning it. I really appreciate the help/advice, and I will hit you up if we need anything.

Oh, that's also going to happen when we get our new camera. :)
