Thanks guys! It looks like I'm getting mixed reviews on the 8-bit sound, so I still haven't decided if I'm going to integrate it into the game.

I'll wait and see what more people think - but personally, I kinda dig it. ;) Then again, I grew up on 8-bit tunage, so...

I love it. It's also a great solution to a big problem.

Yeah, watching the video the main thing that strikes me is that the music doesn't really "go" with the graphics (the player model mainly stood out for me). I'm sure that the 8 bit music could go fine with 3d graphics, but I'm not really sure how. @_@

Go whip on ocremix people until they make you new music. :o

OMFG! How the hell did I miss this? I was browsing Youtube and I was like "man, I should leave trufun and comment and bitch at him or something."

Then I head to your channel and it's like GOLVELLIUS BOSS BATTLE! Then I realized that I just didn't check this topic out! Goddamn me!

That was really badass. I showed my girlfriend, and she liked it. We also both dig the 8-bit music.

lol, bout time! I was like, "Ouch, no love from Falco..." ;)

Seriously tho, thanks for the feedback! In making this video, my goal was "ZOMFG EPIC", so hopefully I came somewhat close.

I think I might stick with the 8-bit sound, it's really starting to grow on me. Plus it's my artistic spin on "what is 3D gaming?" Traditionally a 3D game means "next-gen", but who says you can't break the mold and have some old school tunes? ...at least that's my long winded way of saying, "I suck at sound, so this will have to do." :P

I'm mostly posting this for historical purposes, but some of you might find this interesting.

Here's the Vortella Character Model Stats Sheet:

The games' looking great!
I think the 8bit sound works well with it so you should keep it, at least until you want to do something else.

About the music..

I was thinking about leaving E.S.Team and joining you. Remixes are my speciality. What do you think?
Don't worry about them tho.. I talked to them and they all agreed it was fine if I leave the team.
It wasn't too much of a shock, cause they didn't really like my stuff anyway, soo..

Man...I gotta say, I'm honored, but the last thing I would ever want to do is take away from the ES team... Believe me, Elysian Shadows is the inspiration that has kept me working on Golvellius. Without the ES team, I'm sure I would have gotten bored and moved onto other soon-to-be-abandoned projects. :P

Honestly, I kinda dig the use of the 8-bit music - it's my homage to the original game that never got the sequel it deserved. As I've mentioned before, the use of 8-bit music in a 3D game is meant to be thought provoking. In my opinion, just because a game is 3D doesn't mean is has to be "next gen." In fact, some of the greatest music in gaming history came from the 8-bit classics.

Buuuuut....

I have heard some really nice remakes, which could work well in Golvellius 3D. For instance:

Here's the 8-bit version:

And here's the "Symphonic Rock" remake:

Tell ya what, how about you pick a song (or songs) from the original Golvellius and create a remix, and we'll go from there. I can then put your song in my next Golvellius video and get some viewer feedback.

How's that sound?
