Hey, I'm Ewan, I'm 14 and just getting into proper programming. I can 3D model to an extent, I'm learning C++and C#. When I've ticked off all the things on my "To Learn" list (taken from Game Development: Getting Started Part 2
) I'm going to check out SDL and hopefully will be able to make some simple 2D games

Well, you can watch my videos and get yourself an impression
Christ there's a lot of musicians here!
I was the guitarist/songwriter for a Long Beach local band with my brother. The drummer and I commited to college while my brother and the other guys are still playing here in LB with Eddie Booze Band. Our old myspace is still up though if anyone wanted a listen :D

BTW Whoever put in the feature of being able to view all of your posts in a link list is genius.

Hello world.
Saw the AIGD on youtube and started lurking here some time ago. I figured I might as well make an account and shoot the breeze around here instead of lurking all the time. I'm just your average 3D modeler who is looking to get into the game industry. I currently work on 3D simulators and trainers, it kind of blows, but at least I'm using my degree. Perhaps now that I have a computer again I can begin work on one of my ideas and finish some old projects that went down with my last box.

I'll follow your examples and introduce myself here
I'm 16 and I come from Austria (no, not Australia, Schnitzelland
). Like many others I came here through the Youtube-channel.
I was already able to program (C, since recently also C++), but your videos motivated me to take the step into game-development.
I don't really know how to describe my school... our system is a little different than the one in the US.
It takes 5 years to finish school, I'm currently in the second class. At school I have 6 or 8 hours programming (2 hours only every second week). Currently we are switching from C to C++.
In the next years I will also have the enjoyment of learning Java. This year we will also code a little bit in assembler.
I have also some other computer-related subjects, where we are learning something about crap like M$-Office (I prefer OpenOffice), logic (*puke*) and FlipFlops (double-*puke*).
So English is not my first language. I hope it is not too bad. If I say something that sounds like complete shit or if I'm using wrong grammar, just ignore it ^^
I most often use Linux (Ubuntu, --> I'll survive Conficker ^^), but I also have XP and Vista on my laptop. I also have a FreeBSD computer here.
I try to create my programs platform independent. But with SDL this is not so difficult. Unfortunately I have nothing similar to a Dreamcast, just an old N64 but I don't know if this is comparable.
So what have I already done? I started to learn SDL (currently reading "Focus on SDL" and "Programming Linux Games", already had a look at "LazyFoo") and coded a little Snake-clone. It is not worth showing, it is more a little learning-project.
I think in near future I'll be more reading than writing here. Sure I can learn a lot from you.
So... thats me... if you have any further questions to me, just ask.

Hello. Im 13 (14 on may 15th.) I know multiple languages already. (Including, Vb6, VC++, HTML, PHP, Learning XML, XUL, Python, And Ruby) I hope to get into game development soon. By the time im 18 i want at least one complete game. I thought this would be an excellent forum to join because of the amount of programmers and game developers here. Also you guys are very active and have lasted along time.
