I inherited a sega master system from my brother when he moved out and
golvellius was one of my favorite games when i was younger, so I'm looking forward to this.

Awesome, it's cool to see that other people are familiar with the original!
Enny and the gang will definitely be in my version of the game. Even Dina, that scary chick that sucks your life away for money. Which btw, just reminded me of a hilarious quote from UnPlayedAThing on YouTube..
[In his Golvellius walkthru, regarding Dina]
"That's not the first time I've been in a dark cave and sucked off for money..."

I'm cruising right towards the next video. It's going to feature a brand new enemy, the mole. These guys are going to burrow in the ground, kicking up dirt, then pop up and throw rocks at the player.
So, first things first, I had to get the mole modeled, textured, and rigged. I took some screenshots along the way, and I thought some of you might be interested to see the process.
Step 1. I sketched out the character on a piece of paper and scanned it in.
Step 2. I made some tweaks to the sketch in Photoshop and brought it into Milkshape 3D. I then used the sketch as a guide and added verts and faces until I had the mole's form created.
Step 3. Now that the mole was modeled, I brought it into Unwrap3D and created a UV map for textures. (I labeled the pieces so you could tell what's what.)
Step 4. Once the UV template was created, I went into Photoshop and created the texture map. I then opened the model up in Milkshape and applied the texture map.
Step 5. Our mole is complete! But...he still doesn't move. So, I take him into CharacterFX and create the bone structure - this is known as "rigging." From here, I can create my animations and export to my game!
And here's a Character Stat sheet I created. I make these for all of my models...
And now...it's bed time, I gotta work in the morning.

Awesome, thanks, I appreciate that. I still have a LONG way to go, but I'm sticking with it.

Man, that is sexy. I'm really not used to programmers posting quality art or models. This feels really weird. It's like finding a woman who is both intelligent and hot...

I do believe Falco just called me a woman. That's okay, see if I ever put out again!
Seriously tho, thanks, and awesome job on the JFail response, that was truly brilliant.

That's a really nice model man, can't wait to see the animation for it. I am a bit sad that you didn't do enny next but I'm sure
you'll get to her eventually, just try to add in a secret cave called ennies stash where she keeps all the gold she gets from you.

Don't worry, Enny's on my list. And that's funny, I might have to sneak in a way to get your money back from her.
My wife has been asking me to make Randar for a while now, so I think he's next.

Hey man thanks so much for posting that! I've always wondered how exactly a 3d model went from paper concept art to an actual model, and you've explained the process so well. Can't wait to see what's to come.

Tonight, my wife had to study for an exam.. So, that gave me a good 4 hours of devving time!
I hadn't planned on releasing a video until this weekend, but what the heck - let's kill some moles.

These little guys are kinda cool to watch. When I first got them into the game, I just sat there and watched them for a while. Then when they started throwing shit, they had to die.
