E-Newsletter?

Random irrelevance that just didn't fit into other forums. Talk about anything.

Same here.
And I would love to read them.

Not sure what I can contribute at first, but I'm definitely going to take an active seat in the feedback department.

Same. My maths & other stuff experience is probly nothing compared to a number of people on this forum. I'll read it a lot and give as much feedback as I can!
Quit procrastinating and make something awesome.

Perhaps, when you've started to compile the articles, you can simply browse the forums for more content if you find some sections blank? I'm not sure if you're trying to avoid content redundancy, but in my opinion, anything taken from the forums and put into the E-Newsletter is like having an extra splotlight. It's easier to overlook a hidden topic than an article in E-Newsletter #1. ;p

Obviously, we don't want the Newsletter to feel like a repeat of the forums, either. But it would be really nice to have a nicely formatted doc showing everything going on in TCR. So, I guess, if you stumble across a topic that you feel's got content you'd like to see in the Newletter, post a referral to this topic and let them know.

Btw, I appreciate any effort that goes into this. I cannot wait to see what becomes of this and how it turns out!

Not really. As you said, it shouldn't be a copy of the forums, but it should almost certainly include some of what is on here. And each project article should have a link to the forum thread about it (assuming it has one).

That's pretty much the main motivation for this. I'm sure people want to know more about these projects, and the collective knowledge of the community than they currently do. It just needs to be more easily accessible.

That might be a good section of the newsletter - just a list of projects and other important threads here. Like the last section could be a quick reference for that stuff, links to things you might want to check out.

Also, any thoughts on a name for it? Or logo or something?

Um, I'm not really sure about any of this, but Eric suggested I get involved with name/graphics, even though I'm very crappy at the graphic thing, nothing compared to most people here.
Eric came up with the name.
Eric thinks this is worth posting, its just a first attempt at a banner type for a newsletter. I think its pretty raw, simplistic, and shows my skills very well (as in, shows no skill).

(not sure how to get it to thumbnail, it cuts off a bit of the image, sorry.)
As I said, I know its crappy, no need to yell at me because it sucks.......

IT HORRIBLE GTFO... No seriously though... I thought we might as well contribute something as a base, and see what other people were thinking... and I sure as hell couldn't do it xD

Somebody either tell me when or hook me up with a Google Docs invite. I'm free to write whenever.

You don't have to have an invite to Google Docs, unlike Wave, all you need is a Gmail account.

I'm not sure about calling it "Elysian Shadows Newsletter," though....

I think we'd better stick with "The Chaos Rift" variations, as it's more of a community showing and I'm not sure how much the ES team will actually be contributing. I'd love to have a section for us if you guys can fit it, though. ;p

And yeah, I'm a big fan of this idea now. Lemme know when you're kicking this badboy off! ;p

I just meant access to a THE E-newletter document so that I can contribute an article.

Can latex be used to do magazine style formattings, with pictures floating around every where and stuff?? Or do you want it to look like a scientific article?

Maybe i just dont know shit about latex...

Anyways, i think google docs is good for writing the content. Then someone can always put it into some other program and make it look good. I dosent seem that anybody actaully have creted a document yet, so i guess you could just do it and invite people with something to contribute. Maybe even publish it and post the link here, so we can see what is going on :D
