Okay, apparently I can't use the express for commercial purposes. I don't like that.
I suppose if I was to go professional I would invest in a professional version anyways.

I'm so spoiled by VS 2010's debugger. So that one'll do.

Has anyone used the Geany compiler on Linux? What do you guys think of it?

Where did you see this? Express can and has been used for commercial projects.

Yeah, it seems that Benjamin100 likes to make quick conclusions without much basis in regards to Visual Studio. It's almost as if he's scared to admit it might actually fit his needs.

I actually know quite a few developers like that.

Okay, apparently I might have been wrong, though doesn't it say "for evaluation purposes only" when you open Visual C++ Express?
What does that mean?

I'm not sure what visual studio you have been using, but mine (and everybody elses) doesn't say that...

The only time I ever found it useful was when I was building the lua library and the compiler.
And let me guess, that's the only time you've ever had to use two projects together?
I was depressed to find out that not all IDE's support such acts D:, normally I wouldn't need it. But I've started more and more getting my server code to work with the admin control code and the game code. 3 .exe's I love the fact that I can hit build and even when I've forgotten to compile one of them because I only made a small change there, but a big one somewhere else, it solves that dilema for me :P.

Anyways, Visual C++ is elite in my eyes particularly for it's debugger. I love XCode but don't use mac's often, I also love QTCreator though.

I've just looked at the express version of Visual C++. I'm not interested yet in investing in the professional version.

Okay, apparently I just need to register it for free.

I get it for free through MSDN Academic Alliance (being a college student). I doubt I would pay for it considering the functionality of the express edition.

Okay, apparently it was just a registration issue.
