Dude when you start doesn't actually play a major part in skill, yes when you're younger your brain is a proverbial sponge but it's more to do with dedication than anything. I started way later than Falco(around 14-15) and I got good fast.
Your skill as a programmer will grow exponentially once you get that click in your head that makes everything make sense(it does exist) and here is a hint; All programming no matter how complex boils down to true and false.
