...but in other news, the ES Devkit has decided to go open-source. To begin developing, go here: http://unity3d.com.

Wait... Are you implying that you are tossing your code base and opting for a purely Unity-based game?

I think he's implying he has a desire to purchase Unity after the release of ES.

...I have rewritten libGyro from object-oriented C++ to structural C and inline assembly and am damn happy with the results. I would rather die than actually use Unity3D for ES. ;)

Does Unity3D have 2D support built-in in the first place? Otherwise, I couldn't imagine it'd be a winning strategy to take the camera and objects intended for 3D and set them up for 2D rather than just using/making a 2D engine in the first place. Even if it wouldn't take much work (I imagine it wouldn't), that's a lot of pointless overhead to introduce to your game.

EDIT: So, like eight hours later I noticed what topic this was in and got the joke in the post linking to Unity.

Oh wow, Codeblocks and some libraries in a ZIP archive, great SDK nD!
I don't think that's enough for me, how about you sell a computer with all of that stuff installed on it and call it an SDK bundle.

They've just repackaged SDL and called it their SDK. Their SDK. For a handheld game console. *Facepalm*

I love how in the Installation section for Mac OS X it simply says "Advanced users should already know what to do."

How user-unfriendly can you possibly be? It says it's under construction, but for such a simple to make (copypasta) SDK thats a pretty lame excuse.
