I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I've been watching the videos for quite awhile and the "How to Get Started" video reminded me that I'm really not a part of any programming community and I figured it was about time and mix in with a crowd of people with similar interests, see what I can learn or even one day help with.
I am going to school for Software Engineering with a major in game development, I've been programming for about 8 years now, but I've only seriously gotten into game development for the past 2 years. I don't have as much time to devote to this as I'd like as I'm a father of a crazy 2 year old and I have a full time tech job, but I do what I can. I look forward to sharing thoughts and gaining some new friends as time goes on. See you on the boards.

Good to finally have a software engineer--those damned computer science freaks are quite nearly dominating.
But with all seriousness, welcome to the forums.
edit: Nice avatar. ;P

NoooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo!!!!
Arce hit it right on the nail: my CS domination plans have been ruined. Originally, I was going to get together with the rest of us CS students, as well as Peter and Marcel (I know they have a few grudges) and surround Falco for a beating and takeover. (kinda like running the lion out of the pride
), but now there is one more Engineering student, and things are not so easy!
Seriously though, nice for you to join us Trask!

Thanks, man. Welcome to the boards.
It looks like at least 3 or 4 of us have been up all night coding instead of getting out and doing anything with our Halloween, haha.

Let's see...
I was doing some Calculus homework, then got bored so decided to register here. I'm a Ruby guy myself, don't have enough time on my hands to sit down and try to learn anything more complex. At least yet, I plan to try to start to tackle C++ over Winter break. But yeah, that about covers the common ground that I know of at the forums so far. I'll probably be more or less a lurker, so, hi!
Wow, I need to get back on this homework.

I have looked into Ruby a good deal, myself. Looks like a very powerful OO scripting language. That was the only problem for us, it was too powerful, we needed something more light weight for Dreamcast, haha.
