I've been wondering what's better a game cartridge or a game cd? :? I will list some facts about both.A game cartridge might last longer because it's harder to brake but the cd is very fragile and can get damaged easily. Also if you have a game cartridge you won't have a memery card to lose because the saved file is in the game. Now about the cd. If you buy a cd if you lose the game then you will not lose the file because you have you have a memory card full of your precous files so all you have to do is buy anathker copy of the game. But the cds come with a case to put it in along with a memory card holder thats in every one of the the cases.

I refuse to vote.

Cartridges suit older consoles a HELL of a lot better than CDs would. No load times, on-game saves, and other goodness.

CDs hold assloads more, but have load times. Thus, new games use them.

So die.

Well, If we used this new technology that we have where we can put something on a DS cartridge that is also on an N64 cartridge. If we just made them the size of the n64 cartridge we could fit so much on them.

But Cd's can have better music and such.

That's only because the cartridges have to compress sound to fit it all in. The N64 is capable of every bit as good movie + sound quality as the Playstation 1, but you'd never know because it always has to be compressed to less-than-ass to fit on the tiny cart.

I think cartridges are better because they don't have as many problems and such as CDs. A cartridge can support an N64 game. And I don't need a giant game that takes 6 discs, just to be happy. I am perfectly content with a cartridge.

I'm not for the most part. Imagine N64. There is so little space that there is no such thing as a linear platformer.

What platformers can you think of for N64. Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Donkey Kong 64--all of these are just maybe 12 GIGANTIC levels that you're supposed to "collect things" in.

It does get old. They really should of used CDs in my opinion.

Think about Dreamcast or Playstation. Crash Bandicoot and Sonic Adventure. They've got the beatiful graphics and scenery, but they don't expect you to stick around a particular area or level forever collecting crap only because they couldn't fit other crap.

I'm sorry, but I even think Nintendo would've pwnt Sony that round if they'd gone with CD media.

They tried, and sucked. 64 CD is very rare and only has 8 games. I dunno if it actually 'sucked' that bad; but it must have because it's so unpopular and they6 only made 8 games..o.o

Anyone care to google the subject? I'm too lazy... :spin:

I don't buy the "CD's can get damaged too easily" argument. What exactly will you be doing with them? And it isn't that hard of a thing to take care of.

...Unless you have stupid little brothers who leave them on top of the PS2 instead of in their cases. ARGHHH!!! That makes me mad.

Yeah, I don't seem to have a problem with CD's.... Even if they do get scratched, it's nothing that a little toothpaste can't fix. (Especialy OBTT.. see sig below, it works magic)

Yeah but if you get a cartridge it won't get damaged which means you won't have to spend all this money for a new one.
