David Bowie

General Purpose: To inform (arranged topically)

Specific Purpose: To inform people about what an accomplished person David Bowie is and give reasons to want to meet him.

Thesis Statement: David Bowie is an accomplished rock singer who has been making music for nearly 40 years.

Introduction
1. David Bowie is an interesting guy because of his life, achievements, and music.
a. David Bowie is over 50 years old and has had quite and interesting life.
b. During his lifetime, he’s not only become a world-famous rock star, but he’s also accomplished a series of things.
c. David Bowie is most commonly known for his music.
2. David Bowie is a pretty cool guy for a variety of reasons.
Body
1. David Bowie started his life in England.
a. He became popular as a boy when he played the Saxophone in bars.
b. His first alias was Ziggy Stardust and his band was the spiders from Mars.
i. He was a controversial figure at this point in his life and he even admitted to pretending to be gay as a publicity stunt.
c. When he and the Spiders from Mars split up, he became known as David Bowie and his music style greatly matured.
i. He’s been known as David Bowie for many years now and is married with children.
ii. Continues with live tours and concerts even today.
2. David Bowie has done a lot of things in his life.
a. He learned to play the Saxophone at an early age.
i. He learned to play over 5 instruments in his lifetime including the guitar.
b. He has starred in a few movies and guest starred in others.
i. He was the goblin king in the 1980s movie: Labyrinth.
ii. He showed up in the gangsta fight scene in Zoolander.
3. Undoubtedly his most renown and popular achievements are his music.
a. Mr. Bowie has over 10 albums and is still rocking on even today.
i. He has a diverse style
1. Listeners can hate one song and love the next.
2. He appeals to many styles of music.
ii. He was the epitome of rock from the 60s-80s.
1. He became world famous with songs like Rebel Rebel and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
2. He is often referred to as one of the most influential rock singers of all time.
iii. Whether you realize it or not, he’s very popular.
1. He does songs for a wide variety of movies.
2. You might not know who his is, but you probably know his music.
Conclusion
1. David Bowie has had an interesting life.
2. He has a slew of accomplishments.
3. David Bowie remains one of the most influential rockers even today
This is going to be quite a badass speech. It's complete with my David Bowie: Reality Tour DVD as a visual aid, and a slew of respectable songs for samples.

"Ziggy Startdust" is one of the most respectable rock operahs on Earth, just like "American Idiot" is one of the most respectable punk-rock operahs on Earth. Actually, it's the only punk-rock operah on Earth. :D

That's gonna one kick ass speech. I did something similar, except with Green Day.
