I played through the Shenmue series for my second time.
For those of you who didn't know, I beat Shenmue I a year and a half ago. I was obsessed with the game, but my obsession came to a halt due to Shenmue II never seeing a US release (for DC).
I got lucky at Christmas when my parents imported the PAL version for $60. I played through that. I had so much fun, but I really couldn't enjoy it as much as I could have without the gigantic gap between me beating the first and second (you forget the in-depth storyline).
During my summer all-out-game-pwning-spree, I knew the time had come to beat Shenmue again. I had been longing for it for quite awhile. I decided to save such a great game for when school starts, because I could really use such a happy game during the school year.
School started and I played through Shenmue I, getting and doing everything I possibly could. This time, there was about a 3 hour gap between me beating Shenmue I and starting Shenmue II. Not only that, but I hex-editted my save file so that my beloved luggage would carry over from Shenmue I.
So anyway, I had just barely beaten Shenmue I and I played Shenmue II for at least an hour every day after school. I finally beat it tonight. That officially ends my playing through the greatest series ever.
There are just a few things I'd like to say about Shenmue II:
1) OMFG GOOD CONTROLS?! I cannot deny that Shenmue I had horrible controls, it did. As embarassing as it may sound, the first time I played Shenmue II, I thought it had terrible controls as well. When I played it the second time, I actually went to the options menu, and right there walk/move with analog stick. That was all that it took for the Shenmue II controls to be perfect. I'm not even kidding either, it made all of the difference in the world.
2) Saving at any given time. Stupid me--again. I didn't realize when I beat Shenmue II my first time that you could just go to the menu screen and save at any given point in the game. That made it alot nicer since I didn't have to return to Come Over Guest House/Ren's Fort every time I wanted to save. Also, you can make big bucks if you save before you arm wrestle or something and just load the file if you lose...
3) Shenmue II Extras. The one thing that I wanted from the Xbox Shenmue II was just eliminated. I just found out that the Shenmue I DVD composed of all of the cutscenes from the first Shenmue is included on the actual game disc of Shenmue II disc 4.
Also, the greatest thing ever is that I unlocked a 10 minute long movie of Shenmue/Shen2 for the Sega Saturn, that is never before seen footage. It's so amazing that I almost couldn't believe it was Sega Saturn. It's the EXACT same with worse graphics.

What the heck is that supposed to mean. If I don't like it, nobody cares.GyroVorbis wrote:It's one of the most common strategy guides that I've ever seen. It is so common, that I swear to god I found it in the middle of the road (ask HS).
I'm sorry, but people are actually able to appreciate a good game, Wutai.
Also, I didn't think that the strategy guide for a game that was never released in America would be so common.
This is a joke about unfunny jokes. And bad use of irony.
