~Adventure Log: Official Gamer Campout - Cemetery in Woods

I didn't want to be the one to post about this, but the people who went with us that do post on this forum are far too lazy to post this, and everybody else doesn't frequent these boards enough.

First of all, this all took place Friday night.

We'd been talking at school about wanting to do something. So my parents agreed that they could all come over and hang out a bit (get started on the Supercomputing project which never happened). So in the end, my parents allowed Drakor, Yikarso, Skwalker541, Eric Shickle, and I to go camping.

I told them about the old graveyard (I've posted pictures here of it before), and we decided that we'd pay it a visit during the night.

At first, we hung out and played games at my house until everybody showed up. Then we drove over to Wal-Mart to stock up on caffeine. We all bought some Rip-It, and decided to eat at McDonald's. So anyway, we ate there and took off.

When we got home, it was pitch Fing black and we panned to camp at the other end of the damn cotton field. We should've set up camp during the day, but we didn't.

So anyway, my parents let me borrow our huge ass tent. The 5 of us started walking (also carrying an average of 30-50 lbs of crap with us). We finally made it to the woods and entered.

It was really dark, so we couldn't see much. We walked past the graveyard and found this nice little road and pitched the tent.

The only thing was that nobody remembered how to pitch the damn tent. So we were 6 gamers sitting in the pitch black forest with only a few flashlights and a lantern arguing about how to set up the damn tent.

3 HOURS later, we got the tent up (barely, we chose such rocky ground that it wasn't as stable as it should've been). Thank god that skywalker541 brought the lantern. That proved to be our most useful item. He also brought a really badass inflatable matress.

So we all fit into the tent comfortably (not as comfortable as if the tent was set up right), and we're all sitting there chilling in the middle of the forest somewhere in our tent.

Then Eric's mom calls and says she wants him home. So we have to leave the tent, track through the cotton field, and walk Eric to his car. So then we reenter the cotton field one person less and head towards the graveyard.

It was pitch black and pretty damned creepy when we got there. For those of you that don't know, this is an 1800s graveyard in the middle of the woods. Probably only 10 or so people know of its existance. Coffins have sunken in, and there are huge depressions where they have clearly rotted away.

So anyway, 5 gamers are entering this cemetery at night with a lantern and a few lights. It was pretty damn creepy. We walked pretty far in for the most part, but skywalker541 and I at least wanted to get to the main grave.

They waited on us while skywalker541 walked up to the Farley grave (this is the Farley cemetery), and touched it. When we walked back to the others, we decided to turn off all of the lights to look around in total darkness.

The freaky thing was that when we turned out the lantern, the damn thing would not relight. So we get the hell out of the graveyard, and when we regroup at the entrance, we examine the lantern to see that it had shattered in one spot. Nobody had heard or even noticed that it shattered though...

But anyway, we went back to camp. 3 people had DSs, so we did play that a bit. We also had a stereo out there, and listened to angry NES rock along with the radio all night. We sat the lantern outside and it illuminated the whole campsite.

We heard a huge array of strange/creepy, and unexplained noises out there (being in the middle of the damn forest). Yikarso, Skywalker541, and I shared the matress while Drakor and Arce slept on the floor.

It might've actually been comfortable, if Yikarso, Skywalker541, and I didn't have to share ONE sleeping bag. I forgot to bring extras.

But anyway, it was a great night. We actually went through with it. 5 gamers walked way out into the middle of the woods in private property, pitched a tent (after 3 hours), inflated the air matress, had the stereo, visited the graveyard at midnight, and slept there without getting caught or any other major problem.

The campsite was a funny place in the morning. You normally see beer bottles strewn about when people assemble to camp. Our campsite was littered with cans of energy drinks and caffeine. It was pretty funny.

But anyway, we're going someplace alot farther next time. I'll be driving in about 2 weeks now, and we have access to anywhere.

Also, if you want a visual of the graveyard, do a forum search (top) and look for adventure log whatever with the cemetery. Then imagine that pitch black at night.

Neat. You did pick them up, right =)

Next time, bring a tape recorder, leave it on all night after you go to sleep. Then play it back and see what you hear. If anything, send .wav it or something and send it this way :)

Wonder how long until they make portable cd recorders so you wouldn't have to re-record. Hm.

Cool adventure. Hopefully I can make one soon with teh JSL. Nobody here except for JSL, Fred, Werdna, Catalyst and Singularity know what I look like.

That adventure has to be the most hardcore that you've posted so far. I just love all of this adventuring.

Yeah, the woods beside my house are covered in hundreds of beer bottles. There are even some really old glass soap bottles. The odd thing is that those woods are nowhere near a road, so I have no idea how they got there.

How many Rip-Its did you buy? One for each person>

I personally like the normal kind more than Citrus X.

Oh... right...

Get Rockstar. It is one of the besttasting and most powerful energy drinks available.
It has 200mg of guarana, while Bawls has only 80.
Rockstar is pretty expensive though.

Parents wouldn't let me take the camera. Next time, I'll rent one of the school cameras for... broadcasting. lol.

Badass! That graveyard is so creepy.

I heard of this drink called samba. They have a Gurana flavor. I went to a website about it, but it said it was discontinued.
