I know you've been dual wielding Grandia II and Final Fantasy 12, but what have you been thinking of FF12?

Final Fantasy 12 Vs. Dragon Quest 8, which would win so far?

I just put this game on my Christmas list and I was wondering.

Tvspelsfreak: Graphics, very different styles. Everything about DQ8 looks awesome, FF12 has the best facial animation I've seen on PS2. Both games has those huge fields, DQ8 winning the size and draw distance arguments while FF12 wins when it comes to details.

Tvspelsfreak: Music, well I have to go with FF12. DQ8 has great music which fits the game very well, so does FF12. But the FF12 tracks are more memorable and generally better IMO.

Tvspelsfreak: Battle system. They both have speed, definitely. No slow loads or anything which is great. DQ8 stays true to it's roots while FF12 tries something new. I <3 the programmable AI in FF12 and the fact that you can grind without ever having to input any commands. So FF12 wins that one.

Tvspelsfreak: Characters... Let's put it like this, FF12 is more about the epic fight between kingdoms with the characters playing a smaller part in the whole thing. DQ8 is way more character based, hence it has IMO more lovable characters. DQ8 (definitely).

Tvspelsfreak: Overall charm, FF12 is darker than DQ8 and in the process not a charmy. DQ8 is pretty packed with funny stuff while FF12 is serious. So DQ8 is more charmy.

Tvspelsfreak: Length, DQ8 was the longer one to just pwn. I dunno about the length of sidequests since I haven't done everything in both. I'm aware of the huge extra dungeon in DQ8 and FF12 has this huge list of extra bosses and minor subquests to do. But for the main story, DQ8 is a bit longer.

Tvspelsfreak: Storyline. As you might know DQ8 isn't that much about the storyline, hell the first part is "chase after dhoulmagus". It's more about the experience of exploring the world. FF12 has an epic story about war between kingdoms full of plot twists and stuff like that. FF12 wins if you're looking for a fully loaded storyline.

Tvspelsfreak: Grinding factor, I'll split this into two pieces. Quantity and enjoyment. You'll definitely have to grind more in DQ8 since the level and skill gaining is a lot slower (until you get to fight metal enemies), you'll probably have the license grid mastered for the characters you're using by the end of the main story in FF12 and gaining the remining levels up until 99 doesn't take a huge amount of time if you know where to do it. FF12 has more enjoyable grinding sessions though with it's programmable AI so you wont have to chose every command by yourself. And the game has a chaining system for enemies. If you kill enemies of the same type you start a chain counter, keep killing the same kind of enemies and they'll drop better items.

and the final question....

Tvspelsfreak: Boob physics: DQ8, none of the FF12 chicks have boobs large enough to devote physics to. XD
The epic battle can be summed up as follows. The pair are just too good to declare a clear cut winner, but this is just how I see it.

DQ8 is the happy-go-lucky RPG with lots of boobs and fun, FF12 is like the darker, more epic RPG full of asses that need kicking.

DQ8 if you're just looking for women and boobs, but if you're in it for the emotionally engaging storyline and epic quest, FF12.
