I don't know by who or why, but somebody has decided that it would be funny to hack into our admin panel and have a little fun. They screwed with my permissions (which are now restored) and nearly infiltrated our FTP.

I'm taking precautionary measures to ensure that this will never happen again. Be warned whoever the fuck you are, I will find you, and you will pay!

as if pinging from a Linux machine is any different from X machine.

Avansc is right. DoS and netstat is not going to get you anywhere near that guy.

Gyro if you are running your own server I suggest that you look into SQL Injection and securing your server.

yeah im opinionated and an ass at best of times, but i apologize when i see that i am wrong.
(when bugmenot posted it was his first post, i assumed ignorantly that he was speaking out of opinion and not fact, i was however wrong, i quickly saw that he was very well equipped and knew probably more than me about certain things that were on topic, which at that point i apologized and stated so)

let me ask you this.

if someone made a post saying someone like, oh gee. im getting my VOODOO 93 machine ready and im gonna make GTA9.hijacked, with MMO capabilities,
in 6 miniuts. and add VR.

are you just gonna say. oh yeah not go ahead mate can wait 6 min to play it. i think not.

But yeah, that really sucks. Glad to hear that you quickly got back into control... at least ES is popular enough for hackers to care? Guess it comes with the territory. Hope you get them or at least learn enough from this to prevent it from happening again.
