Bible Adventures Noah's Ark thread

Since I didn't feel comfortable hijacking my other thread about remakes. ;P

So I've been redoing the Noah's Ark game from Wisdom Tree's Bible Adventures (unlicensed NES game)
Spent two hours on the first day redoing the tiles, four hours the next day recreating the first level, a little bit today doing the coding and collision detection.

A screenshot of the level, but the remade sprites pasted on top. =P

Taking a break from coding and being too snowed in to go x-mas shopping, I decided to start on the music. As you all remember(?) the music is pretty bad...:

I ripped it out of the game, slowed it down a bunch and came up with this:

Now to start on making several versions of the song for different levels? Or just to see what I can come up with.
Base song: http://www.moosader.com/BibleAdv.mid
Reqiuem for a Cow: http://www.moosader.com/RequiemForACow.mid

Still learning the way around my new keyboard, even slowing the tempo down a lot made it hard to record my first one, though it doesn't help that the notes are seemingly random. I'll have to rerecord (ugh) Reqium, as it sounds kinda weird, and the strings aren't really loud enough (though I guess I can change that in a midi editor)

A church didn't make this game, it was a company that failed at making normal unlicensed games, so they tried their hand at bibley things.

The AVGN review of the original is hilarious. I can't wait for the remake :)

Well what I meant was to go after a religious game... wouldn't think it would matter, for a japanese company.... Then again I guess they just didn't want people to stop buying the games because they thougt nintendo was evil.... anyways nice game

They did, sorta. It WAS unlicensed, and the games used special chips to get past the lockout stuff. Which apparently wasn't illegal or something.
Nintendo told retailers they'd stop selling them games if they sold Wisdom Tree games.

Little video of what I had a few hours ago.
Right now I have more physics and stuff (which means, more bugs now, too).

Particularly, I'm trying to figure out a way to make collision less assy. It's a bit jerky when you go through platforms. And for some reason, climbing trees won't work, even though yes, I did remember to stop gravity. :P
Did some more graphics, going to do more tomorrow.

What scares me is the animal AI. It's all so glorious, especially the monkeys. I guess I'll just have it randomly choose every-so-often for a monkey to "climb tree", "throw coconut at player", "make faces", etc.

lol good job so far, Rachel J. Looks great. I always thought the animal AI was based off the player's coords from the animal. Although, I haven't played this game in awhile so I forget exactly how the animals act.

Yeah my game's collision needs redone to, but to do that I have to remake the levels... they weren' that great to begin with but that doesn't make me want to redo them anymore.... But anyways the game looks like it will be awesome! =)
