It's The Sun though. Seriously, it's written for people with a mental age of 8. I kid you not.

It's not exactly "banned" either. The slightly loopy head teacher has decided to redub it, that's all. I'm sure nobody will be fined, arrested or flogged for calling it a school.

he probably didn't have to pay for it because noone owned it before him... He just said "Ummm, I'd like to get a contract that tells people that I own the sun."

Rupert Murdoch owns the sun and the times (and Sky TV)

I don't think he owns the mail... but it wouldn't surprise me, considering he owns EVERYTHING!

Daily fail...I like it, i'll start calling it that :)

To be fair, in the school I went to, they said we couldn't call ourselves students, but learners instead.

But then again... our headteacher also banned coats aswell, don't even ask

It doesn't matter if you change the term used to describe something, it's STILL A LABEL! I never understood political correctness, except maybe some senator out there had nothing better to do (i.e., all of them) and decided to "make a change". I think "political correctness" should be called something else. It's not fair to things that are correct to change them.

I totally agree ;)

You don't need to change what people say, people need to change their attitudes to the group they are labelling...

Its not even a label, its a word to describe an institution for teaching and learning. Words were made so you know, you don't have to use the definition to describe them.

That's a fair point, the politically correct term is a form of definition, but where the problem lies are the connotations and stereotypical representations of the terms that cause people to be labelled, therefore a standard definition carries little weight unless the terms are represented by the masses (referring back to the case, A School is commonly known as a school by the majority, therefore does that make it the correct term?, or is the correct term the "pollitically correct term"?)

I believe that as long as a term isn't offensive in substantial way, and it is adopted by the majority of the particular nation's speakers, then that is the correct term, however if there is any deviation from either of those rules, then a more suitable term should be used.

I should really go to bed

Seriously. We can't call hands hands because they remind people of work, so they can't enjoy their food that they have to eat with their hands. So lets call them 'objects for physically manipulating the environment'. Or, call them hands.
