First I've heard of it. Sounds pretty sweet. I hate the name though. I can't pronounce it well.

At first, I thought it was "mem-ree-store" but it's probably "mem-rih-ster." I agree they should change it =p

They should call it something like "memmer." It's just a component that remembers it's state as a resistance, right? So why not call it something simple?

Hey, a remembering resistor. Memor-zistor.

Or, maybe they could call it a Persistor, since it's persistent storage.

I wonder if we call it that, will everyone else start using it and then it becomes the official name?

This sounds really interesting, it will do wanders for laptops if sleep actually lets your computer go to 'sleep' and then when you start it up again, the start up is instantaneous.

It might be a long way off, but it could be quite a substantial move forward (one that I think we sorely need)

I'm kinda boring, so I'm hoping they do some RnD into it's applications as RAM, but machines that learn would be pretty cool aswell I guess

One thing that kinda astounded me was the stuff about analogue, didn't we just spend a whole decade switching from analogue to digital?, oh well...

As a CPE student who has been spoon fed circuits up the asshole for the last two years of my life, I found this extremely fascinating. This is huge.
