For those of you who don't know, I am a full time government employee and ALMOST full-time student (in the summer). My life has been fucking hell, and I have been trying hard to maintain good grades, do my job, and work on ES.

Today is midterms. I studied for two fucking straight days for my circuits midterm. I knew that it would be super effing hard, based on all of the shit that the bangladesh-ian teacher insisted on covering (about 3/4 done with what a normal class would cover in a YEAR).

I wanted an A in that class so badly. I didn't bother studying much for my Discrete Structures test, just so that I could do well in circuits.

Well, the test gets passed out, and it is the most fucking insanely difficult thing that I have ever seen. I answered maybe 2/5 questions correctly. After class, a girl left crying, a dude left nearly crying, about 10 guys started cussing, and I asked every single person that I saw how they did. Not a single person said that they thought they passed.

Most people said they answered ONE question right. And I know some super smart kids in that class (somebody I knew from differential equations who made an A in there said he just made a 30 at best).

I am so fucking sick and tired of foreign graduate students trying to teach engineering classes. It's fucking impossible to maintain a high GPA and be an engineering major at my university.

My fellow students and I have decided that if we don't get a retest, all 40 of us are going to march into the dean's office and demand a refund.

Even better yet is the fact that I have my CS214 test next that I haven't really put much effort into, because I wasted two days studying for circuits.

Well shit that sucks, but damn I've been there. The most foreign, hard to understand, teachers teaching the really complicated stuff and I don't know if this was your case, but it's hard to understand them in the first place and it's the only classes that you need to actually understand the teacher in. Good luck for a retest... are you sure its just not a case of "this was really fucking hard, I know I failed' then you found out that you go an 'A' and it just seemed hard cause of all the pressure you put on yourself?

Trust me, there isn't a chance in hell that I could have solved a mesh current with two embedded supermeshes and two dependent sources.

Or a node voltage with two supernodes and three dependent sources.

I am hoping for a conservative 40%. Probably much better than 3/4 the class.

That's bullshit, man. If you can't get a retest or a curve or anything, you definitely need to take it higher up. Just make sure you go to the dean with a solid case; bring notes from class/textbook/etc, and then the test. Prove that the test wasn't fair in the context of the class and there's no way in hell they'll keep those grades.

I say everyone on the forums send angry complaints as well =p.

...wow, that's fucked up. The least they can do is give a resit exam.

Yes be prepared with enough stuff to guarantee you'll get your resit, otherwise you just look like an ass.

I hate that shit, dude. I went through the same crap with a few of my CS classes. And when the teacher can barely speak english, it makes it that much more frustrating! I begged and pleaded with my university to start doing manditory english proficiency tests on all of their professors. I took me nearly a semester to figure out that "Deh - ter - MINE" was in fact the word, "determine."

Hopefully they'll at least drop a couple of the questions, but let's hope for a retest.

Aww flashback... Juniour year, Algorithms, highest score on midterm in our class was a 42%. One of the questions wasn't even solvable if my memory serves me correctly. And yea, it was ditto to all of the sentiments you describe, full classroom wipe.

If its any consolation, 4 years later and its funny to me now.

I think maybe the Profs/Grads get bored and want to see people squirm. Or maybe they need someone to complete their workfor them.

That's seriously lame. I hope something gets done about it (a curve would be awesome).

Speaking of curves I scored so high on my last Physics test that the teacher had to actually curve it to the second highest scorer, otherwise everyone else would've gotten 70s and lower. 111% ... I love curves.

This is the way to go. But I might confront the professor/head of CS department before going to the dean.

EE (electrical engineering) department. I'm a computer engineering major, not computer science. :D

So when do you find out your scores?

Over here in AU they have fairly strict policies regarding mass failures like that. We also don't have to pay uni fees until we are in the work force. We have Hex debts. What uni??

Well I'm from Israel, and one year I had a Russian teacher(with a russian accent) teaching me god damn ENGLISH!
(needless to say, although I was ahead of my class I didn't understand a fucking word she said)
talking a 'bout weird accents...

plus I took the AP physics B final in the U.S, Half of the material we didn't even cover in class.

I hate the American edjuculation system...

lol yea when my friend was coming from Germany he took English before he did, and the person teaching it was French haaha he said it was painful
