Are you excited about the new Final Fantasy game? I know I am. I'm excited about the changes to the battle system(vs XII), love the graphics and hey, its Final Fantasy. I'm looking forward to spending 100+ hours with this game, haven't done that with any game since FFX...
What are your thoughts?

I'm very oldschool when it comes to RPGs. I respect the fact that Square has been trying to be innovative with their Final Fantasy gameplay for the past few years, but I would really feel better about being a FF fanboy (still) if they would return to the old formula. I'm very glad that they are returning to an ATB system (Final Fantasy 6,7,8...duh...it worked) but it still seems a bit overdone. I want to enjoy the battle system as well as the impressive effects during magic/summon attacks; but please don't confuse the shit out of me. I wasn't even able to beat Final Fantasy XII because, well, it was just way too much to take in. I think that Square-Enix should take a look back into the 90's and bring the spirit of their SNES-PS1 days into the next gen consoles. And that's about all I have to say...

Actually, I'm extremely excited. I'm going to buy it the minute it comes out.

Believe it or not, I loved Final Fantasy 12. As a matter of fact, that's the only thing I even remember from my freshman year in college. Hrrrm...

I too enjoy the combat system from 1-10 over 12, the system in 12 is the reason I didn't get into it. I don't like the fact that you run around while in combat, and all the curved beams look stupid - to me the battle system seemed more like a bad/boring attempt at an action game. The fact that you don't run around, and choose actions from a pretty standard rpg menu was a big relief for me. I like that the combat seems a lot more fast paced and I don't mind controlling 1 character at a time.

I guess the graphics, character design, presentation, music and story is really good(Always is in FF games), but when I found out all the changes they made to the battle system, I was just so disappointed and it didn't seem like final fantasy to me - I didn't even bother buying it after playing at a friend's house.

I probably should have also said that I voted 'Immediately, at release!'. Despite how I felt about 12, I will always look forward to the next FF. It is hands down my favorite series.

I really like that trailer...

What do you guys think of having the Leona Lewis song in there?
I personally would prefer the Japanese music, but I don't care that much - It's 1 of atleast 80+ themes in the game.

At least I'm not the only person in the world who actually enjoys playing FFXII. Although I am not going to lie they could have done a little better on the voice actors, especially with Vann.

I agree, and in most arguments it's true.

However, there is always one thing you can NEVER argue with things like consoles, and that is that everyone is going to have an opinion.
But then there is the natural urge for you wanting to show your opinion and influence others to change, because when you have an opinion on one thing, the thing opposite of what you support you are normally against and with that starts wars and the desire to destroy the opposing side.
It's perfectly fine to feel this way and chose sides and fight a war... there's the two sides and then of course the people who are like THIS WAR IS STUPID WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING IN THIS WAR blah blah blahh...

Real War in real life is something I don't like, because it's violent obviously and there are many deaths.
However, war online is completely different and there are no deaths (usually) from wars fought online over consoles.
So telling people how it's "stupid" to have a console war is a stupid statement in itself.
Then again, one can say that having a war over a console is immature and useless.
But having a war online over consoles is a great way to express yourself and debate about a topic that you are interested in.
It's good to have debates, it's good to speak your mind, and it's good to disagree with others.

I went off on a rant that started out of nothing... but that's usually how it happens with me
Also, davidthefat none of this was directed at you except for the I agree part

Arguing is fine, but:
1. Do it in a proper place. Starting to argue about which console is the best in a place where it hasn't got anything to do with the original post/video (youtube comments :x ) IS in fact stupid. (Stay on topic)
2. Arguments. 3 word posts are stupid and useless.

Aaaaanyway:

I'm not that worried about about the sound, and I only have a 360. End of story. ( No doubt I'll have a blast playing FFXIII, no matter the amount of discs. )

Edit: typo

"However, we noticed at this stage that the movies on the Xbox 360 suffered from more compression than on the PlayStation 3, while the Xbox 360 had an overall crisper image quality in the main game. "

From a Gamespot preview (not that I particularly trust their input). Looks like there will be both ups and downs to both versions. Either way, I am NOT playing Final Fantasy XIII for its graphics. Or, that's at least not high on my reasons to play.
