Alright, the audio from a video I posted on youtube was muted because of copyright issue:
Your video, Malloc bad use , may include content that is owned or licensed by these content owners:
* Content owner: WMG Type: Audio content
I would like to know what I have to do to enable the sound on my video(if possible). The video was uploaded on the .wmv format generated by windows movie maker.
Music: Malignant Narcissism - Snakes & Arrows - Rush

Welcome to why we hate Youtube.

Maybe 5 of my videos are now unwatchable in certain countries. Several of them have advertisements for using "copyright" content. Apparently Google won't grow a dick and stand up for "fair use" anymore.

Call the record company and ask, seriously.

Yeah... I don't get where they want to go by doing all this shit... Maybe they're just bastards that want to piss us off by making us waste time editing the video and setting the soundtrack...

Sure, and pay an international call...

err i think its foolish to think that youtube/google just wants to irritate people. they are a business, not a charity. and they get sued when copyright material gets used with out consent. not the user using the material.

now while i dont like some of the things they do, i think i'll try and keep the bitching at a minimum.. at least until, i dont use my FREE gmail account, my FREE website, my FREE code hosting, my FREE google docs. my FREE directions/map searche, and not to mention the best search engine bar non for free.

Unfortunately, fair use only directly applies to "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research". In the case of music, covering a song yourself is also not copyright infringement. The four-factor balancing test can be argued rather easily if someone is determined to remove/hinder the video that contains their copyrighted material. At this point, it is the owner of the copyright who decides what is done about it - I'm sure you've noticed that a lot of songs lately have a little ad that pops up directing you to a place where you can buy the song when it plays in a YouTube video. This is one compromise that some labels have made. WMG is notorious for being, well, assholes about this, and make no such compromise. You're much better off finding material not owned by them.

If you're looking to simply skirt around this issue using the same material, you can try this: http://www.csh.rit.edu/~parallax/

Yeah I've noticed that and was wondering why my video didn't pop it up instead of removing the sound. Thank you for the information and the link, it'll be very useful :)
