hahah, yeah i was highly disappointed. i was ready to sell a kidney and drop 2k on a mac book pro that had a swivel screen and all that.
but then i realized what the iPad was. and took it for that. its meant to compete against kindle and those kinda things. and in this area does it very well..
but yea. im hoping this is not as far as the "tablets" go.
This is probably the most useless thing they've come up with since the iPod Shuffle.
No Flash, no multitasking, hell they even spent most of the keynote showing off iPhone apps. Way to go Apple. Even Steve Jobs looked like he hated the damn thing.

Yea, it's useless to the majority of advanced computer users. This device is still going to sell like hot cakes, and I'm still going to develop for it.

I guess I really just don't see any point in owning such a device, nor to pay that much for it. If size is such a big deal, Toshiba Portege R600, 3GB ways like 3lbs and is a full pledged laptop. Why pay so much extra just for the Apple brand?

Because it's Apple and it's generally how they work. Pay more for less.

You sure about that? I've seen a few polls that suggest otherwise.
Also it's hard to see any features it has that the iPhone / iPod Touch doesn't (apart from screen size obviously)

People like us in the know-how aren't going to be the ones who buy it. We don't need it simply, and if we did we have the same gadgets anyway. Rather it'd be the mums/dads and teens who have no real idea in these matters. I wouldn't be so sure abut hotcake like say the iPhone however, but I'm sure it'll well reasonably well.

It's the same thing that happened with the Wii. We all wanted something revolutionary. We wound up with a Gamecube that had gimmicky motion sensing remotes packaged with a bowling/sports game that appealed to a bunch of 40 year-olds rather than the hardcore fans and gamers.
Will it sell well? Probably. Does it deserve it? No.

how many of you would say no to one if it was given to you? okay.. so everyone is gonna say yes.. probably even to products they wont use. but the real question comes here... how many of you will use it if you had it. and if you think long and hard about it. you would.
yea you might not wanna drop that kinda cash on that device. and yeah, you might have wanted to see a different device... but fuck, would i use that thing to shreds. id totally use the ebook thing. (im assuming it will let me view pdfs i own/have already) i would love to use it as a daily planner. point is people are being to harsh.
the disappointment i had when it came out was about the the same as when borat found out "pamala" was a whore. i would have loaned money to buy a macbook pro that has a swivel screen and, and a spiffy pen thingy that fit someone with magnets and all that. but we didnt get that. and its not to say apple wont bring that out, they probably will.
this is not really a computing device, which we all wanted and perhaps more importantly, expected it to be. im viewing it as a test platform for things to come. this is something to compete with the kindle, and if you look at the prices of the kindle...
