Re: How many languages do you know?
[VB/.NET], C#, [C/C++], some Ruby, some Python, some Java, [AS2/AS3/MXML], Objective-C, [HTML/XML/JS/CSS/PHP/SQL]
I know stuff like HTML doesn't count but I just paired it with all my web stuff as one.
There's a few things like basic assembly stuff I did with Garry's Mod with GPU and CPU stuff but nothing really worth putting down as knowing the language.
And I took a class in high school where we learned COBOL sort of but I wouldn't consider that anything I know, I forgot that already.
Then there are stupid little things like PokeScript that I did back in the day to script NPCs and other objects in Pokemon ROM hacks but that's not a language.
So I guess that's it, I can't think of anything else really...
I do a lot of web design and haven't really done much with Ruby, Python, Java, VB/.NET, or C# in a long time but I still remember them.
I would like to do more stuff in Ruby, Python, and Java.
And I also want to learn Perl and a few other languages just to say that I know them

There's no place like ~/

Re: How many languages do you know?
C, C++, AutoIt, x86 asm, Visual Basic, Batch, Bash, C#, PHP, JavaScript/HTML, SQL, Lua, Perl, Ruby...
Those are all of the ones I remember looking into. If you had asked how many languages have I thoroughly used, the answer would be 5-6.
Really the only things needed to "know" a language is a basic idea of how to program, the name of the target language, and the ability to read documentation.

Re: How many languages do you know?
This question means nothing.
It's not about which languages you "know." (What do you do, go around memorizing the syntax for as many languages as you can?)
Once you become a competent programmer, you should be able to pick up a new language in anywhere from a day to a week to suit your current needs. So "knowing" a bunch of syntaxes really means absolutely nothing in this business.
