Free photoshop alternative?

So I am looking for a free photoshop alternative, but
it needs tablet support. I really only ever use layers, and the standard paintbrush with maybe a few different settings, so I'm not too concerned with most of the other features that might be missing. I am really looking for something with very similar tablet response to photoshop any and all suggestions would be appreciated. I downloaded paint.net, but that doesnt seem to support tablets

I wouldn't know about the GIMP as I've never really liked it that much, it seemed rather overcomplicated when I used it, when I was younger. I am able to use my Aiptek 14000U with paint.net although its a plug and play tablet.

I've personally grown attached to Paint.NET as of late, though I don't know about the tablet support.

I've had both the Adesso Cybertablet and the Wacom Bamboo, they're both decently priced (under $100 I think) and work alright.
*edit*
MDK, I tried Gimpshop, and I still hate it's window stuffs. They're still free-floating and I can't find a way to dock them to the background window.
